But I'm glad to hear he's alright

Where did we hear this?

Harmy: Ok, I wasn't sure if they got all the multiple captures done and then combined for the best possible level of detail.

Frink: Well, assuming he posted in March on the other site, hopefully he's at least fairly well, even if he hasn't posted here in a long time. :)

I don't see where anyone confirmed that was the same guy.

Yeah, we have no confirmation, but with that exact name on a Star Wars restoration site, the odds seem good. Let's hope it is him. :)

As the Legacy forum has a PM function, why not contact this mythical person if you're really interested in how he is doing.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

If he wanted to share information about his health, I imagine he would have come here and done it already. So I respect his privacy. If he wants to say how he's doing, he knows where this site and thread is. I just hope all is well. =)

Yeah, my comment was more of a general suggestion of what can be done instead of these speculations.

Does anyone from the original X0 team have more information on the following? http://web.archive.org/web/20070808031012/http://www.x0project.com/articles.php?i=00012

I'd really love to see the script(s). Also, archive.org didn't even archive the images! :-(

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Pretty sure Laserman wrote that article. I don't remember exactly what we were using back then with AviSynth, but it's pretty much the same idea I wrote about in this thread: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Fun-with-Photoshop-Denoising-an-LD-capture/topic/10460/

Awesome, thanks. I'll take a look.

I'm fairly certain that I now know the identity of Laserman. I haven't yet determined if he's still alive.

I don't wish to invade anyone's privacy, so I won't post it here. PM me if you're interested.

Edit: I can tell you that he did work on Babe: Pig in the City as a digital effects artist. Furthermore, a domain registered in his name (not x0project.com) has an X0-specific page that's still available on archive.org.

OK, Zion has verified that it's him.

I'm still trying to figure out if he's still alive.

Update: There is now strong evidence to suggest that Laserman is alive and well as of, at least, 25 March 29 October 21 November of this year. He's active on several different WWW forums.

Wait, I'm having deja vu. Wasn't this Babe point brought up recently? Wasn't there some article of some sort he was featured in? Anyway this seems like beating a dead horse to me. He left, and I can only assume with good reasons.

I suppose that invalidates my point quite a bit then. My apologies.

I wonder if Laserman ever found that last hard drive with the remaining ROTJ files.  ;)

These must be the droids you are looking for (and so much for almost.archive.org) :

This is an intriguing technique. One must know how the whole optical-to-digital process works (not just the computer's end of it) to create something this clever. But it's only a "pixel-point recovery" application for rebuilding a shot. I don't see it as a general Avisynth-stream solution.

Zion, I found into my laserdisc folder an offline copy of the www.x0project.com website, complete with images and videos!

I ask here your permission to let it publicy available, as there are interesting facts there that many would be happy to know.

And Happy New Year to everyone!
