Granted, the changes made back in 77 were of a much less conspicuous or important nature. Adding the subtitle "Episode IV: A New Hope" is hardly on par with having greedo shoot first, adding cgi song/dance numbers, or any of the SE changes. The whole elitist attitude about who's seen the "original" Star Wars is kinda crappy I think. If you saw Star Wars in the theater before 1997, or on video, laserdisc, CED, what have you, then you saw the original Star Wars in my books, regardless of if some percentage saw a version without the episode subtitle, or some saw a print with a slightly different audio track.
