Agreed, Barry is probably the underdog of the great film score composers. Even when the film was crap, he could make something out of it completely unexpected and fascinating.
Of the non-Barry scores, the best IMO is George Martin's LALD.
I really did like George Martin's work. To be honest, the only ones I don't like are the later scores like Eric Serra. People will shoot me for saying David Arnold, but I just don't like it. It hints at Bond, but ultimately feels like Bourne.
