Update from Ady on Facebook:

I would just like to thank everyone who has continually supported the Revisited projects, , but unfortunately the time has come for me to bow out and close everything down as i can't see this ever getting finished............

...............................................

yeh, right. Got ya......

But seriously, things will be getting back on track after Christmas and YOU WILL see ESB:R released this year. There isn't much left to do, just a
bit of filming and some FX work with the models/ miniature sets.

With the news that Disney had purchased Star Wars, panic set in at first. But hopefully Disney will continue to leave fan edits alone.

This year will also see ROTJ:R go into production. I'm looking to start the full planning stages around July/ August, but maybe sooner depending on how soon i can get ESB:R finished and out there. But i am also planning on working on ANH:R HD at the same time as i will be doing ROTJ:R, so you may get to see the HD version of ANH:R sooner than originally planned. This will give me good practice for when i get to the prequels because, as you may know, i will be doing all three simultaneously. Can it be done? Only time will tell.

Thanks again for your continued support.

By the way, I'm pretty sure when Adywan says "this year", he means next year. He will not be able to finish ESBR and start on RotJR in the week between Christmas and New Years.

As 005 said, I always thought of the shields on Hoth as being "above the ground," intended to stop orbital bombardment, with nothing making contact at ground level.  This is why the walkers land farther away and simply approach by ground.  Unlike the spherical Gugan shields, which protect from all sides, the OT's shields seem to have the capability of being isolated to face a single direction (as seen when the rebel pilots switch their defelctors on "double front" during the Death Star attack in ANH).

This was pretty much how I saw it. And I figured this was the case in The Phantom Menace, when the Trade Federation had to land their transports far away, too.

Considering how many Marvel film fan edits are out there without Disney taking them all down, I think that as long as fan editors are still playing by the same rules (ie. not making a profit from their property) they will do what they've been doing, which is enjoying the free advertising from the fans.

I just say: post softly and carry a big hard drive.

Great news to hear he is almost done! I can't believe it's been 5 years. I remember following ANH:R for a long time and still being blown away when Ady finally released it. ESB is my favorite movie so I have been anxiously waiting for this release. I remember we all said this one had very few problems with it and it should not take long. If ESB took more than 5 years, I cannot even guess how long ROTJ will take. I am with you til the end Ady. Good luck and great job .

Great news, Ady!  I'm glad to see that ESB:R will be finished soon!  And I'm excited that you're working on both ANH:R HD and ROTJ:R at the same time, this is exciting!

Maybe send a workprint on Dec. 20. Just in case the Mayans and George Lucas are right about the end of days. Oooh, do you think ole George will be a tad upset about his recent $4 billion sale on Dec. 23 when we're all still here. ;)

I can think of at least four places it would have made more sense to post that than here...

Hey, my off-topic posts usually have at least some tangential relationship to something someone else posted.  That was completely random.

We should go inside.  We have mushrooms to talk about.

Also, yay for ESB:R! :p

Ady, did you consider to make ESB:R a little more brighter and crisper?

For example..

http:// screenshotcomparison.com/ comparison/159802
http:// screenshotcomparison.com/ comparison/159803
http:// screenshotcomparison.com/ comparison/159805

I raised shadows/highlights and added some sharpness (and a bit of grain). Obviously it brings an issue with crushed blacks but still looks nice. Just saying =)

One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

I just can't get over some clown at Kotaku trying to defend Hoth with it's blues and trying to argue the snowy white look thinking it's a happy day out there!   MORONS!!!

Very interesting results. In the last pic the planet actually looks less washed out and reveals some additional detail. Also, the pics of Vader in his chamber do seem to look better with the tweaked brightness. Of course I wonder how the final film will actually look. Screenshots are one thing, but will ESB:R actually look like those original screens? They do seem a bit too dark when compared with the "fixed" screens, but our eyes have a funny way of playing tricks on us. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's better. And black crush is certainly something to avoid.

I do however think that just based on those screenshots, the tweaked brightness does seem to appear better. Of course would we be able to do achieve the same thing with our tv sets if we wanted to? My set has lots of "dynamic" auto adjustments that sometimes help and sometimes hurt.

I too like the look of these screenshots. They do, from what we can see, appear nicer and they also seem to fit in better with the look of the rest of the Saga. Has Ady seen these?
