Neat preservation.

If you have a record shop with a pro record cleaner, it may be worthwhile to ask them how much per to clean. If not, an anti-static brush at the minimum, and search through the many other methods online (e.g. wood glue method). A good cleaning can help an old used record sound substantially better.

Audacity is very good audio software with a good wiki and active forum full of knowledgeable audio folks. Many suggestions within about click, pop, and noise removal. Tutorials on youtube too. The software ClickRepair can deliver amazing results. There is a workflow discussion on Audacity forum about it.

Have fun!
