So... you basically want a new movie? Because with the magnitude of these changes it would proabably have to be done.

Well, that would be my IDEAL RotJ. I'm well aware that it's just a fanboy fantasy.

Yeah, this I agree on. There are two shots for a combined 1 second or so where the DS plans show the dish in the center. I don't objectto shifting the dish upwards. Beyond that, leave it alone. No holograms and PS2 games displayed on the screen.
Depending on what angle you look at it the dish can be in the middle.

OK why not add a CGI Woody Allen to the whole thing?

"Oh, uh, you see, I'm not against the empire in any way, you know, it's just that... I don't know, I don't feel confortable sleeping inside this Death Star, it's just so morbid... And where are all the women? I mean, with all those stormtroopers and uh... these soldiers and generals and all those people, I almost miss my ex-wife, you know...? And my shrink was in Alderaan and you guys... you guys blew it off, the whole planet, that's just perfect, I have paid for two sesisons in advanced, and now she's start dust, and now where am I going to find another Freudian who charges 50 dollars a session? Coruscant? I mean, it's just... you know... And oh, my car was parked in Alderaan, and now it's gone... Maybe we should, you know, make a deal with those rebels, and give them a planet or something... give them uh, the Endor moon, they love those ewok things, you know?"

I'd like to see Lando and the Falcon go out in a blaze of glory trying to escape the explosion from the Death Star, as was originally intended in an early draft of the script, I never really liked Lando much, he always seemed like he was tacked on to the trilogy as the token black guy, and I found it hard getting involved with the space battle storyline because they never even tried to develop his character to the point where I could really give a shit whether he survived or not, I think the Victory at the end would have been a lot more poingant if there had been a few sacrifices along the way.

Yeah, I know. But if you think about it, some of those changes (Lando dying when the Death Star explodes; Leia is NOT Luke's sister) might actually be possible through some clever editing of the existing footage. (Hey when you think about it - no one even tells Luke who his sister is. He just guesses "Leia" and could've been dead wrong, but Obi-Wan decides to let him run with that silly idea!)

I suppose if I was adding fantasy changes, I would also like to see Boba Fett survive his fall into the Sarlacc, and - while continuing to work with the Empire - shows up on Endor (or Kayshhk ) where Han and Fett duel it out for one last time. It would've also been nice if perhaps a little dialogue revealed some sort of back story as to why Fett was somewhat "obsessed" with Solo. (After all - they had to have some past history together as only Solo and Chewbacca called him "Boba Fett," but everyone else knew him as "bounty hunter." Yeah, I know - their first encounter was revealed in the Star Wars Holiday Special, and then they met a second time in the deleted Jabba scene from Episode IV just like Lucas always intended!)

Yeah, good point. I forgot about this. Yoda - the great Jedi Master of the entire Star Wars series - doesn't really get fair treatment in ROTJ. It's just a death scene with nothing to prepare the audience that he was even dying! I also have trouble comprehending how Anakin's apprenticeship with Obi-Wan lasted over a decade, but somehow Luke seems to become a Jedi after a crash course, and without even having his master around to complete his training. (How DID he become such a cool, confident "Jedi" at the beginning of ROTJ without the benefit of Yoda? Is this explained perhaps in "Shadows of the Empire"?)

So it wouldn't make any sense whatsoever!!!!!!!!!

Boba Fett (bounty hunter) + Han Solo (smuggler with large bounty on his head) = 'why Fett was somewhat "obsessed" with Solo'

Han refers early in tESB about 'that run in with the bounty hunter on Ord Mantell' I'm assuming that between A New Hope and TESB , Han had a few encounters with bounty hunters including Boba Fett. Do we really need any more backstory on such a minor insignificant character in the series? I never quite understood the fascination with Boba Fett, when you consider his mininmal on-screen contributions to the series he is no where near the intergalactic badass that the fanboys think he is,

- his only contribution in Empire was following the Falcon to Bespin and leading the Empirials to Cloud city, Vader and his troops did the rest , then Boba Fett acted as a courier service delivering Han to Jabba, even Greedo could have done that!

- in ROTJ he didn't fare much better in the skiff battle, (fair enough he did shoot those cool ropes at Luke) but it didn't really slow Luke down by much, and then a 'BLIND' Han Solo accidently hit Boba's backpack while his back was turned, causing it to misfire and launch him into the Sarlaac Pit' and I don't care what EU says BOBA NEVER ESCAPED FROM THE PIT, I only wish George had of CGI'd some razor sharp teeth into the Little Shop of Horrors Sarlaac monster, so that we could remove any doubt to the fact that Boba didn't survive, as far as I'm concerned, if we had to suffer through seeing the obnoxious beginnings of this character in AOTC, then it's only fair that we get to see his death on-screen as well . Obviously Boba fett's reputation far surpasses his acomplishments on-screen, and his Father didn't fare much better.

-granted Jango did manage to hold his own during his battle with Obi-wan Kenobi on Kamino, but it didn't take much effort for Mace Windu to lop his head off, and to top it all off he couldn't even assasinate Padme, he had to hire another bounty hunter to do it for him.
The only thing that the fetts proved in the movies was how clumsy they were.

The Bounty Hunter on Ord Mantell was IG-88, the droid bounty hunter.

Boba Fett appearantly survived the Sarlaac with help from Bossk. I don't know the details, I've not read that book. I have heared that Fett is in the NJO books towards the end.

Yeah. I've always wondered why the Fett's were such a big deal. Although Mace Windu was much stronger than Kenobi. (In an episode of the Clone Wars, he defeats an entire droid army without his lightsaber.)

The cool thing about being introduced to Boba in 1980 was that he had the audacity to talk back to to Vader:
"No disitegrations"
"...As you wish."
This guy was ballsy! He just sassed Vader. Cooool.

What wasn't to like? His take no poodoo 'tude, his cool costume and his cool voice... (which has now changed to "Es yoi wush" "His no gud ti me did" Gah!)

When I was a kid Boba Fett was one badass dude. Now he's just some bloody nerfherding sheepfucker. No offense to my Kiwi neighbours across the Tasman, I'm just muckin with ya, you guys are alright.

In an attempt to pander to the Fett-fans, hoping they'd gloss over the various ruinations of the 1997 versions, Boba was made far too prominent for my liking in the SE films. He's like the galactic 'Where's Waldo?' Look there he is, now he's there, look over behind that tree. what was that eighties cartoon that had the multicoloured imp that would hide in the background of each episode and had to be found? Was it She-Ra? Anyway he's like that now.

Lucas never understood what made Fett cool and he decided to destroy the character on his second outing so the fans resurrected him and gave him a backstory which The Beard promptly ignored in favour of this bullcrap PT origin.

Heh. What are you talking about? Greedo couldn't hit a guy sitting at a table across from him, how's he going to deliver a package?

"Gukhh Guhhh Gkuhh... wheeze... Here's your package Mr. Hutt!!!"
"Dooo!! My name is the return address, you senseless dunderpate."

Fett's cool, not sure if I like the whole clone thing, but he's still cool. He survived the Sarlaac thanks to Dengar if I remember "Tales of the Bounty Hunters" correctly(which also had a bit on IG-88 taking over the DSII computer). Though Buddy-x-wing, you make a wellthought out point. From what I remember hearing, the Ewoks were supposed to be Wookies, but they couldn't afford the costumes. My biggest beef with the DS II was the stupidity Palpatine displayed by not finishing it before leaking the plans. Xizor convinced him it was a good idea. What I want to know is, if the Empire can fool the Rebels that the DS II was inoperational, why not also falsely convince them that it was incomplete. Imagine the horror to find that not only was your target fully functional, like what was in the film, but now it was missing the vital weakspot that had convinced you to attack it in the first place. The DS II was pretty much flawless. The beam could be weakened to allow multiple firings, something I wish they had made clear the the DS I couldn't do. I remember in my pre-EU days wondering why Tarkin didn't simply blow up Yavin itself, then deal with the moon. The exhust port was also replaced with micro sized ones all over the place. Of course, the reason the Emperor allowed the DS to be attacked in its infancy is explained two ways.

Cannon - He was overconfident. Plus in the event of the shield's destruction, the DS II was to destroy the moon and escape.

Actuality - A defenseless fleet against an invincable Death Star does not a happy ending make. Same reason Tarkin really didn't blow up Yavin. Than the Rebels would have had the time the plot dictates they needed to blow up the DS.

Could we also please drop the ridiculous idea of dubbing all the Stormtroopers. Implying that the Imperial armed forces are made up of nothing but the same clones from twenty years prior is as ludicrous as when the San Jose Mercury News asked about the droids in their "10 questions we want to know about episode I". I don't remember the article fully, but they wanted Star Wars fans to write in to explain some gaps between the PT and the OT. Most were cases of watching the films with your brain shut off. The one I'm reffering to is "Why does the Empire use droids in battle in E I, but humans in E IV?". It's because the Republic IS the Empire, not the Trade Federation. Dubbing the stormtroopers adds futher confusion into making everyone think that all being hated the Empire. That all planets loved the rebellion. Its not true. I mean, what's next? Have Jango Fett's actor now play every single Imperial officer?

Uh, it's distance. Remember the famous "kessel run in less than 12 parsecs" being wrong because parsec is a distance measure?

Ignore that... I was being stupid at that particular moment

In any case, the Kessel Run boast is still correct because most pilots take the long route for the run, due to the danger of going straight through. Solo braved the danger and covered the run in a short amount of distance (think of it as a shortcut).

Parsec: in astronomy, unit of measurement used, along with the light-year, for stellar distances. An astronomical unit of distance equal to 3.262 light years. A parsec is the distance from which the Earth’s distance from the Sun would subtend one second of arc. (encarta)

Keep in mind buddy-x-wing, even if you don't accept any of the EU stuff explaining Boba Fett, you HAVE to concede Boba Fett absolutely, positively did NOT die in ROTJ. Remember what Threepio said (translating from Jabba): "In his belly, you will find a new definition of pain and suffering, as you are slowly digested over a thousand years." So unless you want to go against the teachings of the original trilogy, we know from this line that Boba Fett did, in fact, live.

The Sarlacc is not human. It could have a very different digestion system. Stomach acids don't digest you either... in fact hardly any digestion takes place in the stomach.
