I think it's safe to say this will not happen for the most obvious of reasons.
This is terrible for Star Wars fans, and I mean the original film not a saga or a franchise. What was once a magical film is going to be continually dragged through more mud to just to make a lot of bucks in even more merchandise, theme parks, spin-offs and who knows what else.
Selfishly yes one hopes the OUT theatrical cuts might eventually get a release (Lucas will still be an employee as an advisor I have read), but it means when I have kids they will grow up with a Star Wars that is just a franchise giant of crap, as opposed to a beautiful movie, and no matter how hard one tries their view of it will be tainted. Terrible day in the history of cinema, in my opinion.
