With all due respect I'd but Roddenberry in a higher tier than Lucas for idea conception, development, and realization. ;)

I don't think George Lucas has proven himself to be as competent in those regards, despite mass opinion, but I digress.

I wasn't attempting to equate Gene and George, merely stating there is a precedent for a creator to step back while someone else takes the controls. The amount of input Gene actually had on the later Trek sequels has been debated in fan circles.
