The Vaultbreakers Collection - Disney Preservations — Page 11

So nobody is going to do Vault Breakers for the other Disney animated movies I've mentioned? Still not interested in The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast or any of the other bullshite.

How about any live-action Disney in original aspect ratio which was Pan & Scanned for DVD?

A remark made by Robert Harris around the time of Fantasia's rerelase claims that Disney is well aware of their work not being representative of the original intent of the animators/directors/etc and that they are in fact creating these "updates" (new color pallets, etc) as well as restoring the original work elsewhere.  At least, that's what I got out of it.

Bump.  Just curious to see if anyone has taken a stab at color correcting the Sleeping Beauty blu-ray.  The quality in of itself is supposed to be phenomenal, but the color pallet not as much.  I'd love to see the movie looking as pristine as possible while also maintaining the original color scheme.

The main reason I'd be curious as to this rather than watching the previous DVD is the aspect ratio.

Molly,

I gots a question about the Deluxe Editions of Aladin, Lion King, Cinderella and the Fantasia.  A pal of mine was looking to transfer these to a DVD (both the movies and the bonus tapes) and was wondering if this has already been done.

I've got the Deluxe Fantasia LD....the only other Deluxe Disney LD I believe I have is the Toy Story box....don't know if it would help any.

Oooops, I lied...I have the Nightmare Before Christmas CAV box and the CAV Letterboxed Edition of Beauty & The Beast.....

Once I make sure I'm well set I am strongly considering investing in some sort of RAID array or something to get rid of my video capture bottlenecks.  I have two computers capable of video transfer but the drives are too slow.  (And I've had friends offer to help but they insisted that I have to cap lossless or at least not mpeg-2.)

That along with 2 moves (3 since I started) has made me not so keen on ripping right this moment.

I wish I had some means of acquiring and scanning 16s/35s, so I wasn't limited to 480p here, and could actually stand up to the BluRays coming out now.

Hi, sorry to bring back this old thing, but I was wondering if there was any updates about the actual Disney preservations or other Disney related projects ?

I'm actully looking for these titles and, if possible, I would like to know there actual status, since there are quite dated now:

Fantasia

3 little pigs (1933 short)

Aladdin

Little mermaid

lion king

cinderella

pinocchio

roger rabbit

beauty and the beast

make mine music

melody time

Song of the south

Beauty and the beast

Thanks to answer

Aladdin was released by ADigitalMan.  The Little Mermaid was also released a long while back.

The SotS is available as a BBC TV2DVD rip from Mentor and an 2 disc NTSC conversion with extras (I think that was finished at v2.)

I don't know about any of the others.  Maybe someone else knows about the rest.

It wouldn't hurt for us to start a list some where tracking these.

Edit: Just checked the thread, the final version of SotS was v1.1.  Mostly the addition of subtitles and a fix to some authoring glitches.

v2 was a proposed reconversion with more modern filters, but the quality difference was minimal.

I bought the CAV box set of Snow White at Half Price Books for $10. I believe there are some extra/larger still galleries on it that didn't show up on the subsequent DVD/Blu-ray releases, and there's an analog version of the original mono mix (which is on the latest release, but it's Dolby 192kbps).

I don't have an LD player or the means to capture, so if anybody wants to make a preservation from this, I'll gladly send it to them.

Hi, is there a way to access the Disney projects done before ? All I could get are dead links or nothing at all (users gone & communication impossible).

I would Like to get some of the titles posted here:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Project-Index-Other-Preservations-and-Fan-Projects/topic/11159/

But all I could get are dead links. Is there a way to fix this ? I would like to make some requests out of these, if possible.

Thank you

Doctor M's quick-fix of Little Mermaid is lost as far as I know. And Molly's LD transfer of Beauty and the Beast was on a private BT tracker, which I think is no more... it's possible someone has it out there.

I know Molly did a raw capture V2 of B&TB but never got around to authoring it.

Yeah.  Actually, I was gonna have a friend author it, and nothing came of it.

What a shame.  Let's hope that Dr M and Molly will comme back again and revisit those projects, especially Molly, in that case ;-)

I thought the Little Mermaid had a pretty open release at the time.

@monks19 - By 'revisit' are you saying something else needs to be done with the edit?

No. what I meant was that you should put it back online since it's completely gone now, unless I'm wrong.

I have a package on the way from a friendly face with Dr. M's Little Mermaid as well as Molly's B&TB LD cap. I'll try and put them up on the Spleen but I'm on a college campus and I have no clue what my best upload speed is going to be.

Ok, let us know when it's gonna be ready, please

If the Spleen thing works out, I guess we need to talk SotS and Aladdin.

I know Myspleen is more strict with custom DVDs these days but I figure Beauty and the Beast (at the least) should be ok given that it's in a different aspect ratio and all of the gaffes that were fixed on the SE are not to be found. For instance, while the original sequencing was retained on the theatrical cut found on the DVD sans "Human Again", said cuts contain the redrawn portions for the iMax edition back when the SE came out. I'm not 100% sure about the BR but that was the case with the DVD releases..

In the worst case, there is Pirate bay or or isohunt, which shouldn't be any trouble.

IIRC, some of the SE changes were reverted for the HD versions.  (e.g., the Stuttering Beast)

^The sound? Yeah. It was there when I saw it in imax 3D. I can't speak on the animation differences, though; they're too minuscule for me to recall unprompted. This review seems to imply that most were corrected but that a few remain.

Update: I received the discs today and I'm thinking about how to distribute them as we speak. I'll probably up them in iso format, wherever they go. Note that they're both single-layer DVDs.

I wish I could buy the 3D disc without having to buy the Diamond Edition in that set; the colors are so much better, but I don't know if my PS3 will downconvert it to 2D...

I just read over Imdb's list of changes to Beauty and the Beast.  I never particularly noticed some of them before when watching the DVD... and now I'm wishing I had the preservation.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101414/alternateversions

If someone ends up posting it on MySpleen or something, I'll definitely be on it.
