I haven't been here for quite a while. (You're welcome) I've seen many movies let's go rapid fire:

Brick 9/10 balls (Is balls still a thing we do?) Re-watched when I heard who was directing Looper. Very good movie. Intricate dialogue that I very much enjoy.

Looper 10/10 balls. Everything I hoped it would be.

Slither 7/10 balls. So ridiculous it's funny, while still maintaining suspense.

The Big Lebowski. 10/10 My first time. One of those classics that you just never get around to. I got around to it. It was great. But I guess thats just like my opinion, man.

Beverly Hills Cop 8/10 Awesome. Hilarious. Mike.

Primer. I'm not sure. Only watched it once. The picture quality and sound sucks but the plot broke my head.

Donnie Darko 7/10 I'm not sure I get it, but I enjoyed watching it I guess.

Headhunters 8/10 Foreign movie. That escalated quickly.

The Thing 9/10 First time getting through the whole thing. The effects still look surprisingly convincing.

I saw the Devil 7/10 Another foreign film. Not at all what I expected. Worth watching.

Chinatown 10/10 That was like... a perfect movie. Incredible foreshadowing.

12 Monkeys 8/10 In preparation for Looper. Awesome. (also see La Jetee if you can)

Red State 7/10 I wish they went all out in the end. Just sayin'.

Okay. I think that's it.

John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness

Sometimes I forget how much I love horror movies. Classic ones, 80s ones, etc.

            ARGO

Well done. It managed to maintain a decent pace and tension. It captured the mood and character of the times quite well. Afleck has built some real street (Blvd.) cred.

I'm not inclined to fault actors much for the projects they manage to land. I understand they have to play the game and go with what's available.

That said, I was stunned by how catastrophically dangerous the SUM OF ALL FEARS is. It pounded the horrifyingly preposterous notion that nuclear weapons come with return adresses into the heads of tens of millions of people around the world. Millions of lefties and uninformed people now form their entire attitudes about foreign policy around this lunacy.

With his new cred, Afleck could reverse much if not all of this. He might even be able to advance the ball.

I'd like to know if he has a pair.

Argo (2012) 9.5/10 - Superb film. Very well done. Incredible story too. As someone who would say their two biggest interests are cinema and history, I found this film outrageously interesting. This is probably my favorite Ben Affleck film. Also worth noting is the fact that Affleck's first three films as director have all been great, which means I think I can officially call him one of the greatest directors working today. I can't wait for his next picture. I think he should back to MA this time, but, you know, that might just be me. Anyway, the film was amazing. Great suspense. Highly recommended. My third favorite so far this year.

GoldenEye (1995)

Well that was pretty fun. Brosnan makes for a great Bond. Part of my run through of Bond will include some of the games. There have actually been a couple of pretty big productions that would have probably made good films. It's a shame they couldn't get Sean Bean's likeness for the GoldenEye remake.

That's the reason I can't play the GE remake. When it first came out, they were showing screens and whatnot and all I was concerned about was "Does Trevelyan look like Sean Bean still?"

When I found out he didn't, I couldn't bring myself to care anymore, because Sean Bean nailed the role and having some noname, noface guy doing it was just an injustice.

The whole "Rogue 00" idea made for a really unique and iconic (or at least interesting) Bond villain theme, I think, and the fact that he was one of the few other 00s we know of, as well as one of Bond's only/closest/most trusted friends who secretly felt betrayed by his adoptive country and slowly became disillusioned makes it that much deeper. In fact, I really think there should have been at least another movie about it because it all felt very rushed to me, and I felt like they could have really expanded on the character more.

Also I like Sean Bean.

I like Sean Bean because characters he plays have good chances of not dying in a movie.

But in his most famous role, he dies!

Basically every movie I've seen him in, he dies!

He lives in Ronin... the Sharpe's series... apparently North Country... Black Beauty... Silent Hill... Troy... National Treasure... Bravo Two Zero... that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

LOL I hope people realize I was joking about Sean Bean's vitality in movie roles. Dude always dies.

Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)

Eh....entertaining. There was some really terrible CG in there. Overall, it felt kind of flat.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) 10/10 - So, yeah, I had to skip YOLT because my brother has it, but that's okay, I guess, because I got to watch one of the best Bonds sooner rather than later. This was one of the last Bonds I saw, and when I did, I immediately loved it. Every time I re-watch it, though, I love it even more. It's been awhile since the last time (actually the last time I watched any Bond movie before this marathon was four years ago, I wonder why), and I can definitely say now that I would consider OHMSS my third favorite Bond film. It's the only Bond film that really lives up to FRWL (I like GF better for other reasons). It just feels so real. OHMSS is not just a great Bond film, it's a great spy film and a great film, period. The plot is simple, yet engaging and a welcome departure from the usual Bond formula. The action is outstanding - some of the best in the series. The score is amazing, as usual. And the performances are pretty damn good as well. I'm including George Lazenby when I say this. I thought he did a very good job. Bond felt human here. He had emotions. He was hotheaded in his scenes with M, a side we've not seen. He also held himself quite well in his scenes with Tracy, not an easy feat considering this is a relationship that is supposed to lead to Bond getting married, and then, of course, losing his wife. The final scene is stunning and kind of thing that gets you choked up. Lazenby does a very good job in arguably the toughest scene ever given to a Bond. I only wish that he had stuck around. I would have honestly preferred him to Roger Moore.

^I think Tracy's death is the only movie twist I had not spoiled for myself before seeing a movie within the past few years. So, needless to say, it was very striking my first watch - as you said. I find OHMSS a bit hard to rewatch sometimes due to its pacing, but make no mistake that I enjoy it. You have to be ready to invest in it, though - unlike the average Moore film, where I can just pick it up spur of the moment and turn off my brain.
