I hope they re-arrange their strategy and give it another go. This would be a way to unify the film restoration and archival community.
As for this thread, I am really sad to see that it went kinda south. Shame really as I thought this was a solid article about something that would be beneficial to everyone. Not that I'm surprised by what was said and who said it but still....it soiled a legitimate topic quite quickly.

they need to be funded by an archive or private industry.
there's not enough interest from the public for the obscure
stuff they are going to be working on.
they need a lot better public relations and advertising too.
putting up more video clips, and explaining or showing the
actual machine would have helped, according to the comments.
