I somehow doubt his account got hijacked. If it did, Jay may be able to tell us the IP address of the person who posted that he was dead is different from the IP address Dayv normally uses.
Again Ferris may be able to shed some light on this situation.

another thought crossed my mind, that Dayv did post the first post on this thread as a way of saying goodbye and then attempted suicide but failed in the attempt. That could explain the "for now" part of Shim's post.
