Forgive me if this was already mentioned, but...

"How ya fealin' kid...ya don't look so bad to me"..

Chewie's noises are all missing.  I'm beginning to think this was a FOX in house made custom audio mix..in all likelihood NOT by Ben Burtt...keeping in mind that it would probably be played through one speaker...and what we're hearing are perhaps accidental omissions.

Yeah, it's possible but some things heard in this mix was carried over to the SE-remix years later, so the possibility of it being done by Ben Burtt shouldn't be excluded.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

I just finished watching this (as well as revisiting Puggo Grande) and I have to say, it was better than I expected, Adywan's also done a brilliant job with the colour correction on this. I would love to see an HD version of this too with an H264 encode.

What actually took me by surprise was the differences in the 16mm mix (I haven't focused much on the sound mixes) like the two added lines C-3P0 and Han say in the Carbonite scene. But I was confused on the intensity of Chewie's growl when Leia says 'Do you think that after what you did to Han we're going to trust you?' and Vader says 'Ugh' instead of 'Ack' when falling as I thought these were done in the SE mixes.

Nonetheless, can't wait to see how Return of the Pug turns out.

I've only watched the beginning of reel one so far, but it looks great!  Thanks for all your hard work on this project!

I really enjoyed the making of featurette.  It's nice to see how these projects come to be and hear from some of the people involved.  I wish more projects would add them, fascinating info...

Just finished watching this; awesome work Puggo and co! Thanks for the hard work.

Did anyone else need to click 'next' on their remote during the reel 1-2 change-over? Reel 2-3 went on its own, but the first change-over needed a little push from me. Bad burn maybe?

Yes I noticed this as well. I doubt it'd be a case of a faulty burn, probably a glitch or something missed when he authored the DVD.

Another nitpick I forgot to mention was that there were no chapters set whereas PG did. Another thing that was possibly missed?

D'oh!  I can confirm the lack of automatically going from 1 to 2.

It’s really sad when the “creative minds” behind something we hold dear are also guilty of its destruction.

The audio on rsortor's print is NOT the 16mm mix.  What is the easiest way for me to determine whether it is a foldown of the 35mm or the 70mm?

The 70mm ESB was a different cut of the film, so it's probably the 35mm stereo if it differs from the 16mm mix.

The differences heard in the 70mm: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/70mm-6-Track-Dolby-Stereo-mix-differences/post/571575/#TopicPost571575

In June '80, the refined 35mm version with its new audio mix were released.

There's no info out there what the 70mm prints looked like or sounded like when shown in foreign markets or re-releases, if they were the same early cut of the film that was shown in US, this is still a little mystery to me. Could the "16mm mono mix" on PSB be a fold-down of a refined 70mm mix? I don't know, no such info seems to exist.

Apparently the easiest way is to share it with the world, and the friendly members of OriginalTrilogy.com will let you know.

On Page 32, post 794 (sorry, can't figure out how to do a quick link to the post)

it may have been closer to the original then Puggo Grande was.  So would this have been made for a more official capacity, like the supposed army or airline prints?

This makes the most sense to me.  My print is a reduction of a well-worn 35mm theatrical print, has the lab reel-change cues and the 35mm mix.  Jaxxon's print is clearly much closer to the original source w/ better contrast and detail.  Maybe at some point in that short window of time between the 70mm release and all the tweaking for the 35mm versions, this 16mm hybrid got rushed out for a specific venue?  We can only guess...

Has anyone heard that line before in any other mix?  I hadn't seen it in any comparison list.

The audio on Jaxxon's print is most definitely a mix produced after the 35mm cut and 35mm Dolby Stereo mix was completed.

That line of dialogue is unique to this mix, maybe it also appeared in some foreign language dubs? IMO he talked too much already in that scene as it was in the 70mm and 35mm Dolby mixes.

I can confirm that this line IS in the "Made in Japan for U.S." & the U.S. Faces LD set.  I just checked it as I'd thought I'd heard it before.

:)

The U.S. Faces LD contains the '93 remastered stereo mix which is also on the GOUT and that line is definitely not in that mix.

It is there...I just watched it before I commented.  Maybe, due to pressing plants at the time, schedules, and mistakes there were different versions of the audio mixes around the globe.

The lines get soft and hard to hear but they are there.  I'm not pulling your chain on this.  This makes one wonder if the GOUT audio mix was played with before their transfer to DVD....filtered somehow maybe?  Adjusted maybe?  I do not know.

In the 70mm and 35mm Dolby mixes and remastered '93 Stereo, Threepio says; "If only you'd attached my legs, I wouldn't be in this ridiculous position." "Now remember Chewbacca, you have a responsibility to me, so don't do anything foolish."

Right before those lines, the mix on PSB contain this additional line from Threepio; "Oh dear, what now? I don't like the look of this." Are you saying this line is heard on your US Faces LD?

Mystery solved....msycamore is completely correct.  I heard incorrectly.

I guess I was pulling your chain and didn't even know it.  I am sorry for the confusion.

No problem, it's easy to fool youself into thinking you've heard something sometimes, that's why I mentioned those other lines spoken by Threepio in case you mistook those lines for that one.
