This is actually a pretty terrible topic for me because my daily dress consists of cargo shorts or jeans, running shoes, and a graphic tshirt with something generally nerdy on it.
That said, I've watched a lot of "What Not To Wear" and read a lot of fashion blogs in my day, for a straight man.

Fashion is not the same as style.
Fashion is a way of selling ridiculous clothes by anticipating (betting on) trends and then competing designers (mostly homosexual men) hang them on androgenised models and sell them to stupid rich people.
The high street shops pick the least stupid and get oriental child slaves to knock out copies.
After a few years the ridiculousness of the clothes becomes obvious and nobody uncomfortable with labels like un-trendy, eccentric, whacky etc would be seen dead wearing them even if they are structurally functional (allowing for the next 'thing' to be ravenously purchased). After most of them have been destroyed they will eventually become design classics and sort out again.
Anyone concerned with being fashionable deserves what happens to them.
Well said.
Personally, I'm pretty comfortable in what I wear. I think I look pretty good in it. Certainly better than some idiot in salmon-coloured capri skinny jeans and loafers.

I like Project Runway.
It's not a very practical show, though. You can't learn how to dress watching that!

But you can learn how to be snarky and cry for no good reason!
People need to do less of that, I say!
