What is your home theater setup for watching Star Wars movies? (or what equipment would like to get if you could afford it/or dream setup?) — Page 3

I would definitely recommend my speakers to anybody looking for a bargain...

The bargain is back for stateside readers:

http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/80274/newegg-pioneer-speakers-spbs21lr-bookshelf-loudspeakers-pair-50-spc21-center-channel-speaker-50-spfs51lr-floorstanding-speakers-pair-120-sw8-100w-powered-subwoofer

$345 for a 7.1, including floorstanding fronts and an 8" sub. Better than any cheapass HTiB or Bose nonsense. The sub is not really great for movies but does a good job with music; may want to save up and get a better one.

Yeah dude, that is just beyond awesome. If I had to guess, maybe mverta could beat that, but otherwise that is just unreal. That's like, the size of the Bryant Park screen, or maybe biger. Building something like that is on my list, someday...

If you have a problem with your T.V.,projectors, or computers being to bright/dark,color mess up,please go here.

I use a CRT and LCD to watch Star Wars.

One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

Always wanted to throw an outdoor show too but to be honest the weather here in the UK cannot be trusted to stay nice enough long enough for me to risk my av stuff.

Samsung 2005 CRT,RCA 1999 CRT(better Quality than the Samsung,no over sharping for the RCA either), and a Insignia 2010 for the LCD.

Just T.V. speakers for now, I'LL get a sound system later.what system would you use for 7.1 sound.

Yes, please do go there.  It's a very entertaining threat.

I saw Star Wars in 1977. Many, many, many times. For 3 years it was just Star Wars...period. I saw it in good theaters, cheap theaters and drive-ins with those clunky metal speakers you hang on your window. The screen and sound quality never subtracted from the excitement. I can watch the original cut right now, over 30 years later, on some beat up VHS tape and enjoy it. It's the story that makes this movie. Nothing? else.

Han's dance moves must look awesome on a 4K projector.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

No pictures of my own im afraid!

Even if I could I would not be able to do it justice.

But a reviewer at projectorreviews tested the blu ray of a new hope on this same Sony4K projector and took some screen grabs:

My dream setup would be a homemade built IMAX theater room to watch them in. But that probably won't happen until well after the sun hits supernova.

why imax? either the picture would be cropped or stretched

out, or it would be a tiny picture on a huge screen.

i've always thought IMAX films and theaters are overrated

gimmicky, and over priced ways of watching movies.

the IMAX specific movies, like nature stuff is ok i guess.

don't really care for anything 3d either.

and don't forget to have a huge house

or build an auditorium for it!

haha

Now might be a good time to revisit what home theater equipment people have. It's been a few years, and there have been a lot of advances.

I've got a few different setups in various corners of the house that I use depending on who else is home and if they need a TV. I do most of my Star Wars viewing in the basement, where there's a 42" Samsung 1080p HDTV with a 5.1 surround system that's mostly Cambridge SoundWorks (I've only got two of the original speakers, so my center and rear speakers are from shelf stereos I had lying around). Upstairs is a 50" Samsung smart TV with Bose 2.1. Sony Blu Ray players on both of those. In my bedroom I've got a 19" Magnavox that can technically handle 720p, but the screen's so small that DVD looks fine and it doesn't seem worth it to sink the cash into another Blu Ray player. I'm using crappy 2.0 speakers that came with a Dell computer eight years ago with that one. I've also got a 27ish" tube TV that I dust off from time to time for laserdisc rips. I'd like to move the basement TV to my bedroom and replace it with a projector, but everything with high enough resolution is way above my budget for the time being.

Are all of you going to tell us that our setups utilize technology there is no demand for?
