I think it would be fascinating to have transfers from 35mm prints of the Star Wars prequels as they appeared on film- especially Episode I from 1999. Lots of changes were made when it went to DVD. Episode II also has alternate shots. Episode III was basically untampered with for DVD, but it was a direct digital file instead of a print.
If all these were preserved (along with 1980 Empire and 1983 Jedi in 35mm which it looks like is going to happen), our work will truly be done- and future generations will be able to watch the original theater versions of the entire Star Wars saga.
1997: Star Wars- A New Hope SE in 35mm in 5.1 and DTS (coloring very different from LD/VHS)
1997: The Empire Strikes Back SE in 35mm in 5.1 and DTS
1997: Return of the Jedi SE in 35mm in 5.1 and DTS
*1999: The Phantom Menace in 35mm (original version- maybe even the premiere version where Darth Maul is in one piece)
2002: Attack of the Clones in 35mm (alternate shots, no added scenes, more filmic look)
2005: Revenge of the Sith in 35mm (alternate transition, more filmic look)
