No. The GOUT smearing I find distracting, but dirt and scratches (as long as they aren't too excessive) are just the nature of the beast. It's like pops and clicks on a vinyl record, or RF interference on your Atari 2600.

I don't know what "noise" you're talking about. If you mean film grain, it would be a crime to remove it. Even grain during composite shots, trying to take that out I think would just be too destructive, and would make the film feel more lifeless, like the 2004s.

I go to the theatre a lot, so I'm used to seeing "cigarette burns" on films.

Having said all that, I don't mind too much of the cleanup you guys are doing, especially all the scratches that are all over Empire. When you've got the green lines going down for a whole reel or whatever, that does get pretty distracting awfully quick. I just hope the method you're using doesn't take too much time and energy, or doesn't remove things that it shouldn't be. Also, the stabilization/de-warping filters are nice.

I could, as long as it had the color correction. I don't think I'd enjoy it as much if it was blue tinted with certain scenes all faded red spliced in.

I think I've seen the SEs maybe three times total, so there's not much for me to unlearn =) With all these great new releases out lately, I think I've forgotten most of the SE changes already.
