Hello, this is Nick Van Eede, I'm a big big Star Wars fan and in the late 80s I got the opportunity to meet George Lucas. Remember me and the Cutting Crew are big big fans, on tour we had the 'for the last time' Definitive Collection Laserdisc set playing every night. During the post party one night in northern California in walks none other then George Lucas himself! I raced to pick up the DCLD set to get an autograph, this kind of opportunity wouldn't happen again. George gets this mixed reaction on his face, something was amiss. He was polite and gracious and signed the LD. (it's still on the mantel in the tour room) Then he got this weird smirk and told this tale about the upcoming digital cinema revolution. The LaserDiscs have never felt so heavy. ....I couldn't believe it.
I felt like the Original Trilogy just died in my arms tonight... and that's how we came up with our hit song, true story.
...I should have walked away.
