Thanks Tue....lemme know....I'll be here
Still moving ahead at a slow pace, getting small things accomplished here and there....but its looking like it definitely won't be ready for THIS Halloween, so I'm shooting for NEXT Halloween now....
I've started working on another project thats alot bigger than this small edit.....very glad to be on board and helping out with ESB:R
Just got back from a weekend in Sleepy Hollow......whew, that place is crazy around Halloween.....shot some live action stuff in the cemetery for the menu's on the eventual DVD. I'm hoping to shoot some more stuff at a covered bridge much closer to home this coming weekend.
In the meantime, here's a list of some of the more glaring visual errors (sound is an entity all its own and will be addressed much later in this process) and other little things that I plan to fix in the film (this doesn't cover film damage, or small visual glitches, dust, scratches, or any of that kind of stuff as that is an obvious fix):
ERRORS TO BE FIXED IN SLEEPY HOLLOW
(The times coincide with the Gold Collection DVD of "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad")
37:27 Ichabod licks his finger but no actual contact is made
37:37 Ichabod's buttons are not colored in
38:00-38:42 The coloring of the dogs could be more consistent
38:01 The blonde guy is suddenly awake, and the guy with his back turned has a blue bow in his hair that isn't in any other shot and the green coated guy has a pipe in his mouth that isn't in any other shot as well as his head changing positions
38:10 The pink shirted guy's right leg is out of place
38:19-38:35 The pink shirted guy's pants are pink instead of brown
38:24 The green coated guy disappears after this shot
38:26 The bunghole is on the wrong side of the cask of beer
38:28 The guy on the left and the one in the middle have switched spots
38:30 There are 2 extra mugs in Brom's hand in the 2nd shot of him sweeping them up into his fist.......remove 2 from the cluster and put one of them on the table in front of him to grab as he goes by.......then leave one on his hand when he flings the rest down the table (and put it on the table in front of him as he smashes the barrel)
38:34 The guys around the table need to be re-arranged closer to their original positions as they later appear to be back where they belong
38:48 Brom's socks dissapear
39:02 The blue bow in the redhead's hair shifts oddly
39:37 The bow on the back of the woman's dress needs to be made pink instead of black
39:41 The guy in the brown coat is in the wrong spot and needs to be moved from behind the table to in front of it (and he's wearing the wrong hat.....his hat should just stay gone from when it falls off his head)
40:01 Change Ichabod's undershirt to something other than hot pink
40:20 Change the color of the yellow/brown shirt on the left as it is too similar to the child Ichabod goes home with a few shots later
40:38 There are 2 missing students in this shot, one on the right, and one on the left (take them from the earliest possible point in the shot from 40:18)
40:57 Ichabod's fingers go behind the knob on the serving tray
41:04 Ichabod's quill casts no shadow on the wall
41:04 (and onwards) Change Ichabod's undershirt to something other than hot pink...throughout the film
41:10 Ichabod's fingers go past the opening of the pocket without going in
41:11 Ichabod's coat pocket is a lighter green than the rest of the coat
41:11 Ichabod's fingers should already be in the pocket at the begining of the shot
41:40 The house at the end of the road does not match the closeup shots that follow
41:58 Fuzzy frame
42:06 The brown coated guy's coat is too long and has sleeves and the green coated fat guy is wearing the wrong hat
42:23 Part of the redhead's hat suddenly turns the same color as her hair
42:36 Insert brown coated guy laughing from 38:19 and fix the green coated guy's hat again
42:42 The inside of Ichabod's left shoe changes color briefly
43:09 Part of Katrina's parasol briefly changes color
44:53 The dropped feather goes behind ichabod, but then in front of the stool he's on
45:06 The white of Ichabod's eye goes beige
45:31 Katrina's parasol has lines drawn on it in this one shot only
45:57 Theres a small gold bit underneath the watch chain and another on the upper right chest area that appear between the fade between Baltus and Ichabod......the chest one seems to be coins hidden in a pocket, but they don't line up with Ichabod when he fades in.
46:11 The book and gloves on Ichabod's desk dissapear
46:55 Katrina's small suitor turns to look at Brom one too many times...he needs to watch everyone walk away instead of turning back to look at Brom....freeze him and animate the eyes
47:06 The pumpkin stems should be grey/green, not orange
47:22 (and onwards until Brom rides Ichabod down) Ichabod's flower is missing
47:46 Katrina's parasol changes color
48:23 (and onwards) Brom's hat is missing in certain shots
50:36 Ichabod's undershirt appears above his waist but is not colored in
50:38 (and onwards intermittently) Ichabod's flower is missing
50:49 Brom's hat dissapears somewhat clumsily
51:14 Remove flower from twin Ichabod's hands (they throw it away, but he needs to have it again in the schoolhouse)
51:23 Add flowers to twin Ichabod's lapels
51:58 Katrina's PS appears darker than the other writing when before matched perfectly
52:31 Ichabod's flower has dissapeared
53:01 The pumpkins have white glows under them instead of shadows
53:33 Ichabod's match comes out of nowhere
53:50 The apples next to Brom keep changing
55:31 The trapdoor is a different shade than the other floorboards
55:49 The trapdoor behind Brom appears green and should be evened out in all other shots as well
56:15 Fuzzy frame and frame is flipped
56:46 Katrina is wearing the wrong dress and does not have her choker on
57:24 The coffee/tea being poured is very blurry
57:52 Ichabod's cup goes empty
1:00:13 (and onwards till end) Ichabod's clothes are no longer the same color
1:01:02 Ichabod is partially see through for a frame
1:01:08 Ichabod's cuff buttons dissapear
1:03:51 The bullrushes go from brown to black
1:05:01 (and onwards till end) Ichabod's buttons are either not colored in or missing
1:05:18 Ichabod's head appears through his hat for a frame
1:05:20 The horseman has his head in his hand but in the next shot does not
1:06:09 (and onwards) Ichabod's umbrella loses its color in certain shots
1:07:14 Ichabod's fingers go behind the knob on the serving tray
Please feel free to report any errors or things you may have noticed. Theres no way I've caught them all....and I'm sure theres a few I've seen but have forgotten to include in this list......they'll be added as I remember them or as you report them....
Glad to see you're going forward with this. I'm expecting to watch it some time in the next few days so if I happen to notice anything I'll mention it. I'll have to keep an eye out for some of those things you've mentioned above.
Its taking me longer than I'd like, what with life getting in the way and all that....but I should be doing some model shooting this winter for some of the DVD menu's and special features. Then I'll have another small block of model shooting next fall season when pumpkins are available for sale as I'll need one for several of my shots (I didn't get the model bought and built in time for this year...so that adds a significant delay onto the project). Currently I'm finishing off the replica of the book used in the intro to the film....then when thats done I can allocate money towards the purchase of all the model supplies to build some of the miniature sets I want to make.
So overall I have a whole year to work on the film itself. I have all the frames pulled from the film....just have to figure out how to animate all the changes I want to make....some of it can be done frame by frame....others may be more difficult at which point I'll probably be reaching out for some assistance
Got the covered bridge shooting done...went pretty well. Other than the fact that it was WAY more remote than previously expected and my rented generator didn't have any wheels...
EDIT: Still adding things to the mistake list above as I find them
Have purchased a large portion of all the modeling supplies for the first block of model shooting I want to do. Still have a second round of purchases I need to make before I can start building this one, but its going to have to wait until after Christmas.....and until I can manage to get some of this credit card paid off (this edit is turning out to be WAY more expensive than I thought it would be.......darn me and my creativity)
Anyone who WOULD be interested in helping out financially can PM me and I can send you my paypal address. The project has currently stalled....but only due to lack of funds. I am 100% commited to finishing this and putting it out there for everyone to enjoy, I just need to scrape together the cash to make it happen.
The area of this project that has driven the cost up is the live action menu's I plan on using for the DVD. They will be done in the same style as the opening of the film itself, no actors, just sets and props, with things moving on their own when they need to....just like the books coming off the shelves in the film.
I have planned several of these menus, and the filming for some of them is already complete. The on location stuff was alot easier to do as nothing needed to be built to shoot the footage, but some of the other menu's will rely heavily on miniatures. The first of these sets is an underground crypt. I have already shot an on location piece in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in NY where the camera pans down into the earth, and the shot will continue with the model, making it look as if the viewer is traveling through the earth to a crypt underground. I currently have about 2/3 of the supplies I need to build the crypt and am buying more as I am able to.
EDIT: Still adding to the list of mistakes and needed changes
I hope you're still working on this. This is my favorite Halloween movie, largely due to its nostalgic value: it frightened me as a child, and now I see just how silly and hilarious it is. No other movie compares for me at this time of year, and yes, I mean this time of year because today I went outside and realized Autumn is approaching. I hope you can get this done in time (if you're even still working on it), but if not, just know that I'm still interested and could wait another year if I have to ;)
Definitely still in the works. BUT my new house, new baby and the fact that I'm also currently working on ESB:R have all taken precedence. This is definitely not coming out this year.
Well bummer, but I'll keep looking forward to it. Congrats on the new house and baby :)
Glad to hear it's not dead but too bad it won't be ready this year. Well something to look forward to next year I guess. Don't give up!
No worries there. I am definitely commited to making this happen. I've spent far too much money on props for miniature sets already to stop now.
Still have this on the back burner....but still just as committed to making it happen (eventually). Shooting for ESB:R has finished....and there's the distant promise of work to be done for ROTJ:R.....but I'd like to get some of this done in between the 2.
Just found out that this film is available in HD from Amazon: Instant Video. Wonder how good the HD is......and also, if it's been scanned at higher res, then why not release a Blu of it already?
Wish there was a way to rip it with no quality loss.....(assuming it was decent HD)
Have heavily edited and added to the errors list.
Nice to hear you're still keeping at it. I wasn't aware there was an HD version of this, but of course it was only a matter of time before Disney got to scanning it in HD. If it's online then it's only a matter of time before Disney releases it on blu-ray. You know Disney though - they could sit on it for years before they decide the timing is right for a retail release.
And knowing MY luck they'll release it right as I'm finishing my edit in standard definition.
Picked up a headless horseman statue at Home Sense this week. Its almost 2 foot tall, and I figure it'll look quite good in the live action library set for the DVD/Blu menu. The pumpkin he's holding needs a slight repaint as it's a little on the cheesy side, but apart from that it was just too perfect and I had to pick it up.
