There is no torrent with Episode 0, "The Turkish Star Wars", anywhere? No...! that's not true! That's impossible! Or, to quote the film of which I'm speaking, "Bargle bargle arglebargle!".

Hey Rikter, I can download the covers from the torrent and host 'em instead of having you send out that CD. Save you some time, unless you already sent it (haven't heard back from you on my last email yet.)

Great idea, Justaguy!

My client doesn't like this torrent file anyway; it won't work on my computer.
(But that's OK I can download them from Jusaguy's hosting place.)

My stance on revising fan edits.

Would anyone be interested if I torrented good quality LAVC MPEG-4 (similar to XviD and likewise compatible with DivX) AVI encodes I made of the anamorphic OT rips? These are small enough to fit on CDs, one each CD; they're still quite good quality, 704x300x23.976 with 128 kbps MP3 audio.

I support your uploading them

+ I was wondering will this format of MPEG4 be compataible with Set-Top DVD DivX/XVID/MP3/WMA players like the RJ Tech's RJ1500VX or the Zenith ABV341?

It ought to be. I don't know how well those players can handle LAVC, but it is MPEG-4, and it's quite close to XviD.

Thank you.

A little warning:

1. I'm on a reasonable ADSL connection, but can't push faster than 46 K/s. My usual BT cap is 40 K/s.

2. I may lower my cap, if people need my bandwidth on IRC for my other files, although I will try to seed as fast as I can. See above.

3. My router is stupid; roughly once every 24 hours, it loses my connection. I have to unplug it and plug it back in. Undoubtedly this will at least once cause some minor problems on the torrent. Could be worse if I'm away when it happens. If you don't see any seeds, that's probably why.

4. I can't seed this forever. I'll try to make sure at least 5 seeds are on the torrent when I drop off.

I'm not used to seeding files of this size, though I have seeded larger (over 900 MB) files before.

These files were encoded using mencoder, which has a nice facility for treating DVDs as a series of tracks instead of a bunch of VOB files, and for equalizing the framerate during encoding. The codec is FFMPEG's libavcodec, aka "LAVC", in the mpeg-4 mode. It should play correctly with the DivX 5.x codec. I have not however tested this extensively, as I only really play video files in MPlayer (which mencoder is part of).

I've seen all the way through the other two AVIs I've done, they're quite good for their file size. XD

"LAVC"? I need to download this and encode something with it to check if my DVD player recognizes it... it plays Divx, XVid and a few other formats, but I have no idea about that one...

Edit: err, are there any binaries of that available? I can only find sources...

Here's a Windows LAVC codec

I used mencoder on Linux to encode these; LAVC is its built-in codec (it can also use XviD).

You don't need LAVC to decode. DivX 5 will work fine; also, if you use FFDSHOW, you are already using the LAVC decoder.

Must be looking for 650 MB then.

All the files should fit. I didn't encode them with that in mind but they came out small enough.

Tip: Do it as a *data* CD; it will not fit if you make it a VCD. VCD is 70-80 minutes of MPEG-1 video (10 MB per minute, roughly).
