As for Cabin Fever, been wanting to see it. So you say that I should watch the extras before watching the movie?

I personally found a new level of enjoyment watching it after watching the extra's (well pretty much hearing Eli Roth's take on things), it was marketed here in the UK as a Horror Flick & although it does have some hjumpy bits it works far better as a black comedy/parody of 80's horror flicks...

I suppose being forewarned that it's a comedy & not a horror MIGHT be enough for ya Dunno mate, the choice is yours.......(as they used to say on Saturday night tv)

God bless Boobies, they truely are worthy of worship!

UM HELLO!!!!! ITS A HORROR MOVIE!!

so since then its been completely re written & re shot.......i expect it will be as much a bag of arse as Exorcist 3 was/is!

However, take comfort in the fact that Warner plans to release both versions in a special edition DVD next year.

Warner is releasing both versions?!?!? SWEET!!! Hats off to them!!! I'd buy it sight unseen just to have the Schrader version.

DJJD, don't you hate when movies are mismarketed? From what I've been told, The Village is the same way. Not a horror movie yet it's hyped as one. Cabin Fever was also hyped as a horror movie here in the States.

On The Village topic, I've heard so much about what a let down it was and how it is not a horror movie and this and that, that I actually was able to figure out the surprise twist ending without even seeing it. How sad is that? I read an article yesterday about how Simon & Schuster is thinking of suing Shyamalan because the movie is a rip off of a best-selling children's book of theirs right down to the ending. And (with big spoiler warnings attached to the article) they revealed the ending to show the similarities. I just read it and said, "I KNEW IT!"

Definitely!! It annoys me no end! I seem to spend most of my time at work telling people what genre I consider a particular movie to be rather than whether I enjoyed it/thought it was a good movie, it seems that in our time when everything musically has to be pigeon holed by the music press our film critics just dont seem to have a clue how to class certian movies.

I think in the case of Shyamalan he will always be stereotyped as a horror director, even though IMO none of his films have been horror movies! Tense, dark thrillers; yes, horror; no!

i agree with you that Shyamalan's work cannot be considered horror...

Tense, dark thrillers is a good description...
in the case of signs though... that can just be labelled crap..
lol

I think both trailers for The Village were heinous examples of mismarketing of the same magnitude as the botch job Warner did with The Powerpuff Girls Movie.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

hehehe

the Powerpuff Girls movie RAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

I LOVE that film!!

Definitely SHOULD NOT have been marketed as a kids movie!

When i went to see it at the Flix there wasn't a young kid there........average age i'd say was about 22........gotta love them Students

And it's one of those rare movies you can watch over and over again even after you know how it ends, because that insight actually enhances repeat viewings. I get the feeling the same will be true of The Village.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

i think the only reason i disliked Signs as much as i did was

1. they showed the Alien... (i had a much different idea on what it would look like as im sure many did, and by them showing you what "they" thought it looked like... totally killed you view on it)
2. the really confusing and almost unsurprising ending... (i guess after 6th sense and Unbreakable though you've kinda cursed yourself... i mean those were kick ass endings!)
3. the fact i dont believe in aliens...

other than that it was a good movie... but i really expected more from Night

So let's talk about a great movie called Dead Alive.

If you haven't seen it you must punch yourself in the face for missing it. A great time of movie watching. It's just so much fun.

Dead Alive (Or Braindead) is an amazing 1992 Peter "The true lord of the rings" Jackson zombie splatterfest. While spying on her timid son Lionel and his ethnic girlfriend at the zoo, snobby, olde Vera is bitten by an imported Sumatran rat-monkey (Yes a rat moneky) carrying a deadly rabies-like zombie virus. Vera eventually transforms into a ravenous zombie-cannibal whom Lionel tries to conceal, but soon the plague spreads, things get totally out of control and Lionel has to deal with more bloodthirsty, flesh-eating zombies than he can handle. Hail to Peter Jackson for making this film the goriest film of all time! Literally wall to wall with buckets of guts, grue, blood, splatter and an outrageous bloodbath of an ending which must be seen to be believed.

And for all you people across the pond you can easily get the longer uncut version. We only get the unrated version

Your version is 7 minutes longer.

GO SEE IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We can't have a horror thread without talking about this movie....
