Thanks guys :-)

At the current speed, the rendering of the AVCHD should be done tomorrow morning and since I'm back at school (I just finished my undergraduate program and am continuing to postgrad) the upload should be superfast as well, so if everything goes well, the AVCHD should be available on uloz.to sometime tomorrow. I guess it will get reuploaded to other places soon after.

Man, I can't wait for the AVCHD. But I'm seriously thinking about getting a BD burner since the BD version sounds like it will have some awesome extras and audio tracks.

Belated congrats on your finals!

Thanks. Some bad news, the final size of the AVCHD was really small with the bitrate I set, so I'm going to re-render it with higher bitrate. It should be done tomorrow.

No rush Harmy.  A choice between lower quality and having it now or waiting days or even weeks for better quality isn't a choice at all.

By the way, the screenshots I posted some pages earlier were from a test encode at the lower bitrate.

So can we get the remastered version yet? Or is it yet to be uploaded?
If we can, where is it available? KAT.ph?

After receiving a death threat from some fanboys who didn't understand the purpose of the project, Harmy decided not to release the remastered version.  All we have are some early workprints.  Sorry.

Now, now... boba, read the first post.

Nothing wrong with LG burners just get a replacement. If it won't read blank media that doesn't mean all LG burners are shit, it just means that the particular one you have is shit. You have a warranty, send it back.

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

Didn't want to take the chance so went with a Sony :/

Quick question, guys: is it possible to replace the soundtracks in the future AVCHD file?

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

Yes, you can demux/remux an AVCHD using tsmuxer.

May just have to get a BD burner for this, though logistically this may be hard (no more SATA ports, and don't wanna get rid of my HD-DVD/BD combo drive).

It's a shame LG dropped HD-DVD read capability from their recent BD writers as my unit was only $85 and it otherwise would have been a good replacement for your combo drive.  Wouldn't have been difficult to include it as a bonus or cost them money.

I still have my original LG BD writer that has HD-DVD read capability, but that was like $400.

You could get an enclosure for a 5" drive and connect it via usb externally, if you don't have external eSATA ports available (or even a usb->SATA converter and SATA PSU for connecting a bare drive externally when necessary).

A bunch of those drives can actually be found on ebay, new or used, for less than $100, so I may go that route and then sell my combo drive or re-purpose it in some htpc project or something. Thanks for giving me the idea!

Still, if I'm gonna buy an internal drive, getting only 6x is depressing...so I may yet go the external 5" enclosure route or something like that.

In general I have found great success with them, and any time I ever had problems, it was because of the use of really shitty media (e.g. TDK DVD+R DL, or no-name cakebox shit). Verbatim/Taiyo-Yuden for DVD+R, and Verbatim for DVD+R DL is the way to go.

Beware that newer dyes cause problems for older drives often enough, or such has been my experience. I don't know much about BD-R media, so can't comment on that.

And if you know you're using quality media, an RMA would be a good move.

In my experience, with my Pioneer BDR-206D BD burner and Verbatim BD-R LTH (Low To High) Type media, I have not burned one coaster yet.

It’s really sad when the “creative minds” behind something we hold dear are also guilty of its destruction.

I was using regular Verbatim BD-R (not LTH). I also tried Memorex and Philips with no luck. Although the drive would pick up blank CD and DVD media it wouldn't read any blank BD-R. Returning it today and went with Sony, I currently have a Sony DVDR drive and it's never burned a coaster even with cheap media. I should have just gone with Sony in the first place, read some really great reviews on the LG though. My luck I would get a defective unit.

Thanks for the clarification.  I was wondering about that :)

I love that this project is synced to the GOUT, because it lets somebody with feeble skills to cobble together a custom audio track for it using some of the 1997 SE changes that I got used to from VHS.

Just sayin'.

Actually, there's just a few 97 changes I'm putting in for myself, mostly for ESB. For SW, mostly mono mix bits that were reiterated for various future mixes but that are absent in Hairy_Hen's mixes.

BUT, my point is to say thanks for syncing this whole thing to the GOUT for all these flexible sorts of things to be possible for the crazies like me.

That's fine, I was just being flippant.  Choice is always good, as long as the originals are an option.
