Wow, I'm silly. ^_^ Thanks for pointing out that post.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

By complete, I mean all of the frames.

The video sources preferred to use when it comes to GOUT is NTSC for SW & ESB and PAL for Jedi, but all of them lack frames.

schorman13 said:

At one point, I checked DJ's V3 version and I remember being surprised that it had that one frame that was missing from the PAL disc. I would have to double check that though. Anyway, I plan to sync them to that version.

Not true as DJ's V3 used the PAL disc as source.

If you're unsure about the differences in frame counts between GOUT discs, see here: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Whats-missing-from-GOUT/post/457548/#TopicPost457548

Keep up the good work!

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

You're right, I just rechecked that as well.  I'll be adding that frame back in for myself anyway, so I'm not going to change my plans with regard to that extra frame.

The project files will be made available anyway and can easily be edited.

I'm assuming we're talking about that extra frame when the Ewoks jump over the log during the battle on Endor.  If so, yeah, that should be easy to trim out to match a typical PAL-based project.

Ok, I should be able to upload project files for the 1993 mixes tomorrow as well as the ducked mixes to go with the commentary tracks, that is if Hurricane Isaac doesn't knock out my power/internet connection.

Additionally, I plan to update the archive due to an oversight on my part regarding the Japanese "Faces" discs.  I actually have three versions of the DC set, the first US pressing that's missing the Leia welding scene, the second US edition with the corrected Leia welding scene, and the first Japanese edition.  Anyway, I chose to include the Japanese version of the DC set because I wanted to make sure that I included the Leia welding scene, and my US second pressing has laser rot and I couldn't get an accurate recording of the audio for ESB.

When comparing the Japanese and US versions of the "Faces" set, I noticed that the Japanese set synced up exactly with the DC, while the US version did not.  I thought this would make editing and synchronization easier.  However I noticed this week, while syncing these mixes, that the Japanese "Faces" set uses the exact same audio as the DC set, meaning that there is missing audio everywhere the DC had a side change.  The US "Faces" set does not have these blank spots, so it is preferable.

I'm not sure if I should upload these separately to myspleen or delete the original torrent and repost the updated version.  In the later scenario, only the new files would need to be downloaded, as all the other files would remain unchanged.

Any opinions on this?

I'm in the process of downloading the original torrent now and won't be done for a couple days.  I'd like to keep it intact for a bit.

If it's just those files, than all the current seeds have to do is just download and re-check their files, erasing the files that need to be redownloaded.

How's the GOUT-sync'ing going, schorman13?

It's going pretty well, I've completed the 93 mixes for all three films and I'm currently finishing up work on the commentary tracks, with the ducked audio to go along with them.  I should have files to post this weekend or early next week, when I get the time.

I'm hoping these will be posted as a separate GOUT-synced archive.  My drive space is becoming precious...

Yeah, I'm sorry for the lack of updates.  I've completed the 85 mix of Star Wars, but I've got a couple decisions left to make on a few spots.  Right now I'm working on updating the sync on the 77 stereo mix of Star Wars.  I'll then move on to Empire's JSC/SWE and 1980 mixes and Jedi's JSC/SWE and 1983 mixes.  I've already got a preliminary sync for the JSC/SWE mixes, they just need to be fine-tuned.

I'm thinking of waiting until I finish all the mixes before uploading all the completed, synced tracks as 44.1/16 flacs.  I think I would then update the  other torrent to include the adobe audition project files, so that other people could adjust any part of the mixes they may want/need to change.  I may also upload upsampled files at 48/16 if anyone wants or needs those for DVD or Blu Ray compatibility.

I'd be fine with 44.1/16, and would appreciate having a separate torrent for the GOUT-synced stuff.  Does this mean your synced commentaries w/ducked audio are done?  That's actually my main interest at the moment (I hadn't ever heard them, and I'm not sure I want to start with the mostly silent ones).

Awesome resource! I'm excited at the prospect of having multiple GOUT-synced stereo mixes, and might take a stab at cobbling together my own custom version to mux into Harmy's projects. Thanks for this massive undertaking!

My stance on revising fan edits.

Thank you for your effort to preserve these gems, schorman13. I really like you made the original captures available, to me 44.1 sounds better. I'm looking forward to the audition project files.

That would be ideal. It'll be nice to add the theatrical stereo, 85' and 93 mixes to Harmy's MKV release. FLAC or Wav, doesn't matter, it's all lossless! Thank you for taking the time to do this release.

What I did with your archive was convert it to FLAC. I'm sure many here wouldn't mind a FLAC archive for the GOUT ready mixes.

thanks for posting this collection. i grabbed a few for my archives. when i pulled some of the 1977 stereo theatricals into a wav editor, i noticed they had markers with notes like "needs inverting". what do these indicate?

44/16 stereo theatrical and '93 mix sync'd to harmy would be really great. after watching harmy's 2.0, i've lost interest in GOUT.

It was actually a small mistake on my part.  When I synced the 1977 mix, I noticed that there were a few places where the wav file had inverted phase compared to the earlier analog laser discs and the 1985 mix.  In order for the few patches from the analog mix to work correctly, I had to correct the inverted phase in some spots.  I accidentally included the phase corrected versions of side 1 and side 2 instead of the straight LD rip.  I'm planning on fixing this in V2 of the torrent, though the gout synced track will have the correct phase.

gotcha. were the phase inversions on sides 1 & 2 to the whole sides or certain sections?

i was just checking the GOUT soundtrack against harmy 2.0 to see how much correction is needed to switch GOUT tracks to harmy 2.0 syncs. it was in sync up to the point where the falcon comes out of hyperspace, at which point GOUT is a frame ahead for the remainder of the film. I added in 40ms to GOUT at that point and it then synced with harmy 2.0 all the way.

thanks again, looking forward to LD archive 2.0 and any syncs.

So this phase corrected side 1 and 2 is only the analog capture? The digital 1977 capture is the straight LD rip?

Wait.  My brain just woke up... do you mean the ducked commentaries are done and already in the updated existing archive, or done and waiting for the rest of the tracks to be done for a big update?  If it's the former, I feel sooo sheepish.

Hopefully, I'm just being thick or there's a problem with my uTorrent, but it looks like most of the tracks listed aren't actually in the torrent.

I haven't started downloading, because there's no-one seeding at the moment. However, when open the .torrent with uTorrent, it lets me choose which files/folders I actually want to download. Below is the list from the description page, with all the ones NOT listed by uTorrent crossed out.

When I looked into it further to list which tracks were missing, I realised the tracks DO all seem to be there, but most of the tracks for all films are in the RotJ subfolder.

Just putting the info out there for anyone else who is confused by this. It's probably not worth re-making the torrent for this, but maybe you could re-arrange the folders if/when you release the version 2 mentioned above?

Perhaps in the mean time you could add the info to the description page on MySpleen for others as easily-confused as I am?

Most importantly, Schorman, thanks for this amazing archive :)

ETA: I've downloaded the 0.7% which was available from another peer, and the files on my drive do appear to be foldered correctly. I presume therefore that the problem is only with the .torrent file itself, or my uTorrent.
