I'm not sure if there is a specific data point to allow for a name with DVD, all I ever see on players etc. is the technical data.

Is there a place in the DVD menu to select the tracks, or is it only done through the remote?

Yes I have a menu for selecting between them.

if you, could you please make it

autoplay after a set amount of time?

on the puggo grande, i showed it to a

friend, but we were stuck on the menus,

because he lost his dvd remote. and the

player did not have hardware buttons to

move through the menus! (It was a cheap

player)..

I haven't been able to figure out how, in DVD-Lab, to get a motion menu to loop for some period of time, but with an autoplay after a time limit.  Does anyone out there know how to do it?  Frankly I don't consider it essential, but if someone knows an easy way, I'm fine with adding it.

This is my last item to clear up (if possible) before it's all done!

Usually it's done by creating x menus, which are identical. So let's say that you want a menu to play 5 times and then autoplay the movie, you can do it by creating the same menu 5 times, and after finishing the playback of menu 1, you play menu 2, etc. and after playback of menu 5 you play the movie. Even many commercial DVDs are made in this way

Hmm, that makes sense, I think I could do that.

I also have the sound menu, which isn't a motion menu, it's fixed.  Do you know offhand how to put a time limit in DVD-Lab on a fixed menu?  Or what to look up in the "help"?  I've searched without success.

Thanks!

You can set the playback time even on a static menu, but I can't tell you where it is from memory (I'm at work right now and DVD-Lab Pro is installed just on my home PC)

The Puggo trilogy is one step closer!

Have you solved your dvd authoring woes?

If they need it to automatically play from that menu because they don't have a remote, how did they get to that menu in the first place?

Good point.  It is set up to default to the 16mm mono audio.  Without a remote, I don't see any way to change that setting - because you either need to get to the audio menu (requiring a remote), or you need to use the "audio" button (requiring a remote).  That seems like a major drawback for people without remotes, even if I solve the time-limit issue for menus.  Makes me wonder if I should be bothering to worry about people who don't have remotes.

he's referring to a new menu, not one

in the other release. i guess if you did

get to this menu, and let it sit. it's good

to have default action for timing out.

the default is for the menu chapter option

on the old  just comes up. that's how we got it to.

just by putting the disc in.

I think you answered your own question ;)

I've never seen a DVD player that didn't at least have a "play" button on the front of it, so neg's buddy seems to be in the vast minority (of an already "no remote" minority).

If anyone is really worried about it,  you can link them to DVDShrink and they can reauthor it to autoplay with whatever audio they want.

Puggo - you're being extremely generous by even considering the 'no-remote' issue, and it would seem crass to tell you to drop it but...I'm not sure that targeting such a slim demographic (people who lost their remotes or don't have a DVD player that has an IR receiver built-in, which I've never heard of) is worth your time. But do what you will...

...Or, give them directions to Walmart so they can buy a universal remote.

it did have a play button on the dvd player.

however, for some reason, we were stuck on

the reel select menu and couldn't get it to start.

we ended up using a chapter select button to

get it to work.

Ok, then it's done!  Leaving the menu as it was, also makes it more consistent with PG.  All three will have the same look and feel.

Now I just have to make sure that it doesn't accidentally get into the hands of those nefarious sharers!

Huzzah! After watching Harmy's 2.0 maybe 4-5 times, it's time for Empire. Can't wait!
