Just finished dloading this via MySpleen - Can't wait to see this tomorrow evening on my projector, but couldn't resist a quick flip through the film. The screen-shots do not do it justice. Absolutely OUTSTANDING work - I really am bowled over by it! Harmy you have done a terrific job on these - the hard work you have done is evident in every frame. Spot-on colouring, and GREAT to see film grain present & correct to - just as it should be! I can almost believe the SEs never happened now ;) You really have achieved a huge milestone with this release, bringing a beloved classic back the way it should be seen.

The only thing I noticed, and would change is releasing the audio tracks at their full bitrates for the Bluray release/version if at all possible? I'm actually just being greedy here as I'd love the Mono audio track in lossless ;)

Really looking forward to watching this tomorrow evening!!! :p

THANK YOU HARMY!!!

Yes, the upload is still in progress, but the rar archive should be finished in about an hour with the par2 set taking about 5 hours more. You can download all complete files now and the rest of them later, that's really unproblematic.

Don't worry about takedown notices on usenet. They happen, yes, but are extremely rare. Chances are at least 99.9% the files will be available until the retention of your provider is met.

The rar files on usenet and filesharing sites are 100% the same, except that I renamed them. The par2 set however is different on usenet.

Okay, I see that they are slowly updating, thanks.

Didn't need the par2 files as the rar files were all intact and have now got them all.

Have just skimmed a few parts of the mkv and it looks absolutely gorgeous:  takes me right back to when I first saw it at the cinema all those years ago (unlike the Lucas version).

Thanks so much to everyone involved for making this happen (and the middle finger to George Lucas for doing his damnedest to prevent it).

The source was Belbucus' PCM.

Nice time for me to start having issues w/ Easynews...they're up to file 161 but 6 of the files are incomplete or missing off of their servers!

Does grabbing the nzb from either nzbindex or binsearch fix your problem? If the files are not intact this way either, then wait some hours for Easynews to update the files on their servers. If they don't, you can download these files from Google Drive f.e., rename them and extract the archive. Or alternatively download some of the par2 files. They allow repair if at least 90% of the blocks are ok.

Congratulation for finishing this project Harmy! Been coming here almost everyday since well before v.2 was started to enjoy the updates. Since I don't have that much to add I've basicly stuck to lurking. I'm downloading now and I can't wait to see it! :) Cheers!

take a nice break, and get ready for 3.0 when ours comes out!

haha just kidding? (maybe?)

Well, that's actually the plan. I tried and I will be able to apply the colours from this to the BD at 1080p with a fraction of the work it took to do the colour correction on this, so a 1080p completely despecialized edition (definitely just a preliminary working title) using your release is definitely in the cards in a year or so :-)

@Rox: If you want to do it that way, first split both with the same settings - in "Global" check split, after this duration: 00:01:00 and set max. number of files to 2. That way, if MKV Merge can get through the corrupted part ok, you get one minute of the beginning from the uncorrupted file and the rest of the movie minus the first corrupted minute from the corrupted file. Then you take those two and append them.

Apologies if this has been asked before in this huge thread, but I discovered I have the lossless versions of Belbecus' 1977 35mm 1985 LD audio tracks, as well as his awsome mono restoration too in my Star Wars files folder.

Can I mux these soundtracks into Despecialized V.2 or would they need trimming at all? I THIINNKKK Belbecus timed to GOUT but my memory might be playing tricks...

Ta!

For those wanting to make a BD, here's a perfect guide on how to do that:

http://www.bitburners.com/articles/convert-mkv-files-to-blu-ray-or-avchd-for-playstation-3-using-tsmuxer/4019/

I checked and the MKV open is TS muxer without trouble. Oh and if you want to include subtitles, they have to be in SUP format for BD.

Also link to fixed German audio is now up on teh, Spanish to follow soon.

@7FN: If they are the original files, you need to set a delay of 1017ms.

Awsome! Thanks for the link to that guide - very helpful!

Since this is spreading throughout the torrents as Harmy mentioned, is it best to try out TPB later this weekend instead of trying to get an MS account?  My internet at home won't be hooked up until tomorrow (I'm typing this at work) and I want 2.0 to be the first thing I go for when it's hooked up!  :)

They're directly from the lossless links he posted back when they were first released, so yes assume they're original. I'll try with the delay you mention and keep 'em crossed ;)

Thanks for your help!

First, thanks for this amazing release, I haven't gotten it yet but I'm looking forward to it!

Harmy, it would be awesome if you could post a SHA-1 hash of your MKV so that we can verify our file is exactly the same as yours. This is very easy to do with Windows.

1. Download and install the excellent HashTab utility:

http://www.implbits.com/HashTab.aspx

2. Right click your MKV file and select Properties.

3. Click the "File Hashes" tab (provided by HashTab).

This will also give you CRC32 and MD5 checksums, but SHA-1 is the most modern/reliable checksum.

Harmy, you questioned what this was before. What this does is create a unique value for the file, which if nothing was changed or corrupted in transit, should match what we get on our end once the file is done downloading. It's very useful in figuring the integrity of a file. (Things I learned for my certification last week)

Yep.  One byte changes and the signature will be totally different.

Yes, that is exactly it, thank you. Now anyone with the file can compute that same hash and if it matches, they are golden.

OK, cool :-)

I was at an internet cafe. Have to go now, so I'll probably be off-line for a while.
