Yay.  Frink released a gif on me after starting a childish argument on semantics and then declared I was wrong.  Good fucking grief, do I miss Warb. At least he actually debates me on legitimate points rather than just acting like an immature buffoon with his fingers in his ears.

Anyway, the point is that "cheated" and "cheating" are two different things.

It's been said before, but I'll echo the sentiment: NBC's Olympics coverage sucks. I was really looking forward to seeing South Korea take on the USA in the volleyball semifinals, but instead NBC decided to cover...synchronized swimming. Lame. "I know, I'll just go watch it streaming online," I thought...except NBC has Olympics coverage buttoned up over here, and their online streaming site requires you to have cable service, which I don't. So much for the "connected  age."

Thankfully, I poked around and found a European site that's streaming the match with no proxy required. Pretty close match so far, but we've been consistently edging Korea out when it counts. Two sets down, one to go, and Korea seems to be choking. Honestly, they're both excellent teams, and Kim Yeon-Koung is a dangerous opponent, but so far I just haven't seen anyone with the ability to deliver as consistently as the current US women's team. You've gotta admire this kind of talent. Destinee Hooker, in particular, is impressive; I don't think we'd have gotten nearly as far as we have without her.

Edit: So much for Korea choking; they seem to have caught their second wind. Still, USA's leading in points and in sets, and Korea's got a long way to go if they want to catch up.

Edit 2: Game over. Korea put up a very good fight, but it just wasn't good enough. Here's hoping NBC actually decides to broadcast the gold medal match on Saturday.

Every 27th customer will get a ball-peen hammer, free!

Akwat, are you sure NBC wasn't broadcasting game of one of the other channels it has be using during the Olympics?

Wow, the game of semantics went so far, Frink is arguing about the different tenses of the word "cheat". WTF? Weirdest most senseless argument ever.

As Gaff very clearly stated, he doesn't give a flip about the use of the word "cheat" here, and admitted that it doesn't necessarily fit. It is insignificant to the point he is trying to make at any rate. His point is, he felt some player got screwed over by some timer cock-up that made the difference between winning and losing, that it was unfair, and that it is wrong that the powers that be did nothing to rectify the issue.

Ironic the guy who keeps popping up to condemn the discussion is the one turning it into a meandering fuss on the various uses of a particular word and how it means Gaff is wrong.

What is this... I don't even...

It's almost certain that they didn't show it because they are saving it for prime-time.

when was that picture of McKayla taken?  What was she actually unimpressed about?

also,  WAY TO GO WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM!!!  Especially to Carli Lloyd,. from Delran in South Jersey, who scored the two goals in the Gold Medal game.    I bet there are alot of fotbul fans in world upset that a soccer team from the USA won the gold medal.   : D

Finally, last time I checked,  America was on top of the overall medal count!  *applauds*

wow, I had been misspelling a certain word, for the whole thread.   It is a good thing Frink never caught me.   He would never have let me live it down.  I have now corrected all my posts in this thread with the word in it.

She was angry at herself for not winning the gold, and the picture was taken when she was awarded the silver. I thought it was pretty childish of her, as do a lot of people, hence the meme showing her being unimpressed by amazing things.
