RRS-1980: Ah, yes. Dark Forces was great, and is among the most under-appreciated games I've known. The engine didn't have the main features of the Build Engine (Duke Nukem 3d, Blood, Shadow Warrior, etc.), but it was certainly more advanced than Doom-clones of that time. Also, of course, they had actual cutscenes between the missions, which wasn't so common back then. I wish that it had multiplayer, though. :( I loved how the fact that it took place in the Star Wars universe didn't interfere, or become a redundant selling point like the modern Star Wars games! (Including Star Wars characters in Soul Calibur 4 was ridiculous.)

georgec: That makes a very good point. Newer things aren't inherently better! I believe that mastery of game making, or any art form, can be shown with brilliance in things that are complex or simple. Heh, it's funny how the pictures spoof too much sharing on facebook, and yet the site hosting them is covered in 'like' and 'share' buttons... xD
