After anonymously reading the forum the last few weeks I finally decided to create an account and applaud you for the effort in bringing Star Wars back to the fans in hi def.  I read that ESB is already preserved, is there another site or index where we can follow the progress, if any, involved in that film?

Can you call this a preservation?  I think this is great but a real preservation needs to be made.  I guess we will not see that until Mr. Lucas passes away though.

Taking a photo right off the film with the lcd light sounds smart.  It would probably avoid losing quality over projecting the film onto ground glass like a real optical printer would.  This should produce some interesting results but nothing like a real preservation.  Especially since the source materials have to be a mess.  This is a slight step above the 16mm work being done.

well, we should be ok

we have work files at 4k

so that should be good for now

the star wars print is an LPP

and although the empire isn't

most of it just faded to pink

while the print itself is mostly clean

to me it holds up quite well to the Bluray

in clarity, but is much better in color

and sound options.
