I don't mind having the extra stuff on a separate disc(s) for the sake of quality. To me, the TR47 set represents the closest quality currently possible to the Definitive Collection laserdiscs on a single layer DVD. The anamorphic version is a close second, but sacrifices a lot of audio quality and a bit of video quality in order to include commentary, menus, and an easter egg on the same discs. Plus, the original laserdiscs weren't anamorphic anyway. Still, it's nice to have both.
