The DTS-6 can be made to play discs without film.  If you wanted to record from it, you'd need a proprietary analog cable (DB25) and a 5 channel recording mechanism.  I really don't think it'd be worth doing things that way.

Also, I can encode DTS-MA or Dolby TrueHD, but DTS-MA is much easier work with and the app itself is far easier to use.

So what would be more beneficial to use....the DTS-6 or the DTS-6AD?  AND would something like this be needed?

On the VideoHelp forum I saw this....

i have a DTS-6 player with digital and analog output (and a DTS extended channel convertor also. to play these even on this machine you need a DTS portable generator (which i also have) and know the serial and time code of the clips in question (or the film) ..
