Love that you restored the hallway they used in the SE to block off R2 to force people to look at the new CG balcony. Nice to see the important character restored.

I always thought that once they added the balcony it created one massive continuity mistake.

Hadn't we just seen Artoo get the door shut in his face? Was no balcony there.

Unless of course he wondered off!!!

It had been a few minutes, and he does roll into the hallway as we watch him, so yeah, he's be wandering. You expect R2 to just bang his dome against a door for 5 minutes? Naw, he's trying to find a point to use his jets to fly to Luke! ;-)

+10 Geek Points for pointing out the altered hallway I had never noticed before.

-10K Geek Points for mentioning R2's rocket legs.

I also like that the official description of the change was they moved the wall so it would still be in frame. How did Ady leave it in when they couldn't before?

LOL......so to keep the wall in frame they covered up R2......sure, makes sense to me

Shame that a quick photoshop shows that Adywan simply took the original walls and moved them into the SE position. The wall could be seen the entire time. They DELIBERATELY covered up the focal point of the scene to show off the CG.

If your Special Edition-ing requires you to cover up one of the main characters with a wall so people will notice your changes, you're doing it wrong.

Awesome!

The color correction is awesome, the new sky behind the Slave I's landing platform looks fantastic, and I love--ABSOLUTELY LOVE--that Leia's line about trusting Lando (around 2:52) has been restored to pre-SE completion! Music to my ears!

Thanks, Ady! =)

I'm not sure how many time Ady can say its just the GOUT audio. ;-)

He said it was "temp" audio; I wasn't aware that he meant "GOUT" audio, especially since I thought I noticed a sort of jump cut in the music (though I certainly may have imagined it)--I figured he'd made some change or another. Either way, though, still nice to actually hear the line! =P

We reached the 10,000 "likes" goal over on facebook today , so here is the latest clip. Not 100% complete in the FX work and, as always, ignore the audio track as it's just temp, but it is how Boba's voice will sound :)

  awesome!amazing! as always.

One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

Nice to see the bluey white that George liked is gone.

Adywan is better than Persil, better than Surf, better than Daz!

Just found out about this last week (thanks to the Cracked.com article) and watched ANH:Revisted fantastic.

Love the changes so far on the clips from Empire and it wonderful to hear Boba Fett again!

Now if we can get Vader to say 'Bring my Shuttle' I'll be extremly happy.

Congrats on 10,000 Likes, and thanks for posting the clip! Beautiful as always -- I particularly loved the new golden glows on Slave 1 as it takes off. But really, the whole thing looks fantastic.

At first, at 4:29, the last blaster bolt next to R2 took me by surprise, and I was going to ask if it was an extra addition -- but once I freeze-framed it, I realized that it had been there all along but I hadn't noticed it before, because it barely glowed!

I'm sure Ady's getting close to wrapping this thing up, and this issue may have already been brought up and I missed it in the 1,000+ pages, but...

To me one of the biggest annoyances in ESB has always been the sound effects of the lightsabers at about 1:48:30 (the exchange after Luke walks back inside from the balcony below the broken window). Vader attempts to take Luke by surprise and delivers about four blows while Luke blocks. But the "motion hums" of the lightsabers are nowhere close to what you see. There are way too many and, in fact, it sounds almost rhythmic, like the SFX guys were playing around trying to make "music" rather than actually follow the scene. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this?

I know Adywan has already poured a lot of time into this project, but given the magic he's already been able to work, going back and inserting a few different lightsaber sound effects at this point could make that scene seem more natural and enjoyable. Again, my apologies if this has already been brought up.

I see all these new faces around here wondering if there will be the "Bring my shuttle" line and whatnot (thanks Cracked.com) and it dawned on me... I have read over 26,000 posts on this one thread alone for almost 4 1/2 years. Not to mention the couple of years before that for ANH:R. I wasn't here since the inception but damn it's been a long ride hasn't it? There is absolutely nothing Star Wars related that I've been anticipating for years except these edits. That's a strange feeling to NOT anticipate something Star Wars. I have my own edit that's been sitting on the shelf for over a year because I just cannot find the time to get back into it. A fan-edit, a true collaboration helmed by Ady (most work too), is the only source of SW that I care about anymore. That's kind of sad in a way.

My only fear is... what if Ady feels the need to stop before Jedi is completed? Then what? I honestly have no interest in Ady's edit on the prequels. There is no way he can make those even somewhat interesting to me. When he's done with Jedi, I'd like to see a collaborative effort to reboot the prequels. It's a shame nobody I trust with the idea has taken up the mantle. This is where I think the next logical step should be taken. Forget the idea of polishing a turd of the existing prequels. Ady I think honestly you have enough talented people (I include myself) that we all could get together and do a new prequel. We could do it with today's technology in the retro style, without all the fancy schmancy crap that litters the new films. I know you must have thought about it. I would do it myself if I had the same following as you. People are behind you because of your dedication to making the OT what it NEEDS to be. Well, you would have the same dedication but intensified ten-fold if you were to helm a project such as that. I alone have an extensive amount of knowledge and material to loan and would give an enormous amount of my personal time to such an undertaking.

I dunno, just chew on that for a while. There are literally way too many people to count that would jump on board. We're all a little crazy when it comes to the OT. That's why we're all here right? We're the only ones who understand each other.

If once you start down the dark path... wear comfortable shoes.

Love the clip.  The colour is gorgeous, but my favourite thing about it is easily the new skies / cloud formations.  They not only make a lot more sense than the originals and Special Editions because they make everything consistent, they also look fantastic.  Thank you for posting it and please keep up the excellent work.

I was afraid the lightsabers looked too clean and sharp, but they are simply perfect.
Nothing bad to say about this whole clip. Even better than I expected :) keep up the great work.

Excellent clip, Ady! Remarkable work.

One thing I find really odd is that in the shots where Chewie is choking Lando, Chewie's eyes are closed for no discernible reason. Could this be fixed?

Author

It's to show how broken up Chewie is over being forced to do something so violent, given his kind-hearted nature (he did know Yoda, after all). In a future LFL release, Lando will choke first.

Darth Stewie - it's funny, I was thinking the same thing earlier today, after I read (unless I misunderstood) that Ady shot new footage for the two rebel soldiers on the ground by the ion cannon on Hoth. Like anything else, it begs the question, "If he can do that, how much more could be done?" I won't claim to have a professional level of expertise in production and editing, but I would love to be part of the collaborative process to script a prequel that actually MADE SENSE with the OT. And I love the idea of producing it in a style that fits with the other films. For example, when I was little and heard Ben Kenobi refer to the "clone wars" in ANH, I had a COMPLETELY different idea of what that was all about (I know, me and everyone else).

Yes, I'm sure there would be all sorts of legal hoops to deal with and Lucas himself would probably put the kibosh on anyone trying to offer society a way to replace their memories of his "original" (a.k.a. family friendly, money raking) vision, but what if....? If this goes anywhere, count me in!
