I ordered a dirt cheap game of Ebay (the postage was twice what I paid for the thing).

The description said the seller had tested it.

I assume he hadn't tested it any further than the menu because that was the bit that worked.

It's always a gamble getting optical discs off ebay and through Her Majesties Mail so I thought...well it doesn't work I just let him know and leave it at that.

So I told him I cleaned the disc and still didn't go past the menu and that because it would cost more than I paid for it to send it back to get my refund I wouldn't bother.

He comes back with... "That is most unusual as we always test our discs, try cleaning it and if it doesn't work send it back for a refund".

He clearly got my message because he was replying to it so why didn't he actually read the thing properly *sob*?

I had no ill feeling towards him when he sent me a dodgy game that didn't work but now I want to punch him so hard, his unborn great, great grandchildren will cry.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHH!

*not yet completely out my system... one more go*

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!

*phew that feels better*

I hate this shitty decade and everything about it. I can't stand the music, the movies, the TV shows, the technology, or the fashion. Hell, I hate the mid-to-late '00s, too, since the the 2010s are just an extension of those garbage years.

I wish I could go back to the '90s; at least that decade had decent music and made some lick of sense.

^ Make sure you go back to the early 90s before half the world had a mobile phone glued to their frickin' hand.

Glad I am not the only one who feels nostalgia for that decade. Sometimes I wish I was the age I am now living in the nineties.

Of course, while we may not have had Katy Perry playing on every other fricken radio station at once, and people may not have been checking their cellphones every ten seconds, we did have Brittany Spears playing constantly on the radio (not to mention Nsync and the Back Street Boys *shudder*), and I seem to remember pagers being really annoying too...

And we still had politicians being smarmy and saying things like, "That depends on what your definition of "is" is."

sorry, but I don't like the 90's.  That is the decade Lucas took Star Wars away from us.

Yeah, at the end of it. But for most of the nineties SW was probably in the best place it has ever been. All three movies in the best quality home video formats available (none of us ever suspecting that someday would not be the case). Lots of EU popping up, some of it enjoyable, and tons of nifty SW related merchandise flooding the market place.

And the special editions being released to theaters in 97 was actually really exciting. It was great to see them on the big screen and I found the changes to a movie I had seen countless times before to be a fun bonus (never expecting that we would one day not be allowed to go back). I'd argue that we had it good through the nineties. Sure, The Phantom Menace hit us in 1999 and we weren't sure what to think, but in retrospect, it is the absolute best of the prequels and the only one I can stand watching.

My birthday is four days before the better half's.

He has a bit of a drink problem, if there are two bottles of wine in a house and the notion of drinking crosses his mind he will drink them both and then drink anything else he can find.

This makes me dread receiving drink as a present.

My neighbours usually buy me a bottle of port for Christmas and I never get a drop it myself.

He will eventually drink it all and sometimes replace it only to drink the replacement.

He dreads getting presents and rarely buys me anything but this year he got me a bottle of port.

While drunk he said to me, that if I had to get him anything for his birthday he would like to have a copy of The Seven Pillars Of Wisdom.

I was overjoyed because for the first time I can remember I thought I could get him something which he wouldn't growl at me for getting.

I found a copy of the folio edition at about half price but I was worried it would come late so I warned him that it might not arrive on time.

I then got a row.

He didn't want it.

He didn't ask for it.

I fill the house with useless rubbish (the spare bedroom has one bookcase of old cheap ebay games which I will play but he will never play or take even a passing interest in).

He wanted a Kindle edition (I can't buy him a Kindle edition as it would require me having access to his Kindle account).

So I've had to try to cancel my order and feel like crap.

This is why I hate birthdays and Christmas and all that jazz.

I'm damned if I do, if I don't and if anyone else does or doesn't.

You can buy Kindle books "as a gift" and send it to his email account for him to redeem. Just trying to help.

I believe he means the British term: "a boisterous disturbance or quarrel"

then shouldn't he have said "I got into a row" ?

Author

No, because he wasn't in the row, the row was directed at him.

Author

Indeed.

Thanks for the info doubleo.

I'll bare that in mind in the future.

It came too late sadly as he has already purchased a copy and the only other ebook out at the moment that would take his fancy.

It's a testy time for him at the moment but I hate it when the booze provokes these weird moods on him.

If I act a bit weirder than normal around July and December now you know why.

Goddamn. I'm fed up with these stupid Ice Age movies. I really hate the advertisments for them. Soon they'll be releasing 'Ice Age 54: Renaissance Rumble Tumble' or something stupid like that.

I hope they never get to the point that they did with Land Before Time.  There were at least a baker's dozen...and the original is still a wonderful movie...just have to pretend the rest don't exist (which is easy, since Don Bluth had nothing to do with them and the style is completely different, from what little I saw).

While I do really love this forum, there are aspects that I can't stand.  One of them is that is seems that whenever something happens that I like/cherish/care about/think is good/ think is important,  someone here as got to find a reason to piss on it.   It is like some are not happy until they can find a reason to piss on some else's parade.   People here have pissed on My Country, the Constitution,  my religion, now the Olympics,  Christmas and the rest of the holidays,  911 tributes, various things and traditions and what not.    Heck, I remember I created an "r.i.p." thread for Rosa Parks when she died and people had to come in there and piss on her.   I've really had enough of it.

*pisses on everyone that have pissed on the things I mentioned*
