Indeed, rats are awesome pets. I've had several and they have great personalities and are incredibly smart and friendly.

I'll take the feedback to heart... it's just an idea, and if done would be subtle enough that the average viewer wouldn't know there is a backstory. I'd nix any pooping, based on the comments. If I can't accomplish something appropriate, then a featurette is a great idea.

I have to keep reminding myself that even though I consider these restorations primarily for providing research material, some folks actually seem to enjoy watching them :)
