^add '1425-85 Pioneer' & '1478-80 Pioneer' to the 'diGital SOUND' search.
I joined a little late to see all the action around Belbucus’ mono restoration, so I don’t have a lossless version of his mix. Can anyone lend a hand?
Also, if there are lossless versions of the original theatrical stereo mixes, I’d appreciate those as well.
And I’ll just wait for hairy_hen’s newest 5.1 mixes before I look for lossless versions of those…
Hi CatBus! I'll gladly send you a copy of M48 DVD.wv! What medium is best for you?
Also, in return, please try to answer the questions in my first post.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.
I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

A downloadable link is best, but I assume I could manage a series of really, really big e-mail attachments. I suppose a snail mail CD would be a last resort if all else fails.
Please PM me with either a download link or a request for whichever sort of address you prefer.

OK, I'll upload it tonight (~6PM EST) to FileDropper and PM you with the hyperlink.

Got Usenet ?
Searching "Audio for GOUT projects" should find you Belbucus' mono
and also his '77 Dolby stereo captured from analog laserdisc 1130-84.
Search "diGital SOUND" and you might find my raw (44.1kHz) PCM rips of laserdiscs
ROTJ 14780-80 and TESB SWE 1425-85, both pressed by Pioneer, USA.
Those are generally understood to contain theatrical mixes, although it's hard to be 100% certain.
(Other LD pressings might also contain those same mixes in higher fidelity.)
However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Usenet mysteriously stopped working for me a while back and I never bothered to sort out why, because I stopped needing it about the same time. Maybe I'll try to get that fixed if I can't get the lossless stereo any other way.
Okay my Usenet issues are sorted and I found Belbucus' 77 stereo, but I could not find anything under "diGital SOUND". Any other possibilities for ESB and ROTJ? Thanks for all the help so far!

Got it now, thanks!
It looks like the ESB and ROTJ files are there, but the Belbucus SW stereo link is too old for my provider (and my provider keeps things for years and years...)
Maybe I'll wait to see what audio schorman13 has come up with in the other thread.
Try a search for Belbucus or Miscellaneous Belbucus and you should find something that is not "years and years" old.
The "Audio for GOUT projects" are a few days shy of three years old so may be a wee bit hard to get with some providers.

Okay, one last question...are there any GOUT sync guidelines for these (particularly ESB and ROTJ), or just any general guidelines for how to make a good sync?

Yes, the sync delay offsets on Belbucus original uploads:
It could also be worth mentioning that hairy_hen have since repaired a slight glitch in the PCM track of Empire (a high pitched sound appearing when the Falcon is "attacking" the Stardestroyer) and a glitch in the '93 mastering itself (a jump cut in the music just before C-3PO says, "If only you'd attached my legs, I wouldn't be in this ridiculous position." The music cue starts and then it seems to start again less than half a second later). The absence of the whining sound effect when the snowspeeder crash in the '93 remaster is still a little mystery.
We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.
Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com
Thanks. I'm trying to make/have good lossless masters for all of the original 77/80/83 audio. Mono was easy, and I haven't downloaded 77 SW yet, but at least right now, I'm using Darth Mallwalker's 80 ESB and 83 ROTJ captures. Did Belbucus upload original stereo mixes for ESB and ROTJ too?
The DM captures sound fantastic, but they're split into three captures apiece, making GOUT sync a little hairy. I'm also trying to accommodate the couple-frames of sync difference in ROTJ for PAL-based preservations, which makes things a touch more complicated.

Dark Jedi was working on doing this too so a lot of this might already have been done, or, as he hates syncing audio that much, you might be able to save him some of the hard work.

Ah, looks like there's a reference to both dark_jedi and Darth Mallwalker potentially doing this. It's certainly worth doing IMO.
I'll continue marching ahead on my own for a bit, just to see how nasty it gets if nothing else. If I end up with something usable, I'll share.
Who would be a good person to contact for checking my work? i.e. someone with a history of being able to spot minor sync problems and glitches at scene transitions (which is where I feel most problems would be). I have a lossy ESB encode based on Darth Mallwalker's LD rip I can share to see if I have any future in this business. I'm afraid I'm far too easily sucked into the visuals to spot these things reliably during normal playback.
