Well, I was off by a number of hours. They're at about $50k for the day, if I've done my math right.

$30k more to go until the goal!

The rumor is that there's a 3DS redesign in the works. Rumors have especially exploded this year with Nintendo, but that one might be one to take some stock into - because, unlike the other more ludicrous ones, this one has stuck around for some reason. I'd hold off, C3.

That is something I've considered as well.

However, I believe Nintendo has projected that they will just be reaching the point where they are turning a profit this September. I am not sure if that would be the point they'd turn around and prepare to push a redesign out the door or not. In some ways it would make sense.

Either way, just waiting for more colors would be worth it. The only games on it I am really interested in are Ocarina of Time, Snake Eater, and Resident Evil: Revelations. I already own multiple copies of two of those games on other systems, so I've settled on it not really being worth it at this time.

I've got a pre-order on Halo 4 and the advertised release date is November 6. Today I realised that November 6 is a public holiday, so not entirely sure what the go will be..

I'll have to check in with my local store at some point. Usually they do a midnight launch for the big blockbuster titles which could be cool in this case if i don't have to get up early for work that day.

If i can get it midnight that is probably circa mid monday morning in 005 time.

I assume the stores will probably be open since not every business observes the 'day off' and generally take a half day.

I am really looking forward to Halo 4, which surprises me.

A friend of mine and I have had a back and forth about this lately. He was really pumped for Reach and absolutely loved it when it came out, I wasn't at all enthusiastic about Reach, and after it came out felt it was a total disappointment and a waste of time. Like the video game version of a clipshow episode. It felt like I had played it before, only now it was less exciting, lacked any kind of emotional connection with my generic character, and with a story line not even remotely interesting enough to want to consider trying to follow.

Interestingly, my friend and I have swapped places with the announcement of Halo 4. While I was excited at the news, thought it was great 343 was taking over and Bungie was out, and felt it had been just long enough since we have seen Master Chief to make his return a welcome one; my friend's reaction was to roll his eyes and say, "Wait, who asked for more Halo?"

His arguments are that it will be the exact same game as Halo 3, that 343 will feel the need to make it as much like the others as possible to reassure us that it really is Halo, and that Master Chief's storyline was nicely wrapped up in Halo 3 and should have been left that way. For my part, I kind of think 343 will bring a new feel to the game, and I had always thought the Halo 3 ending felt like a cliff hanger rather than a definitive ending.

Having watched the trailer a couple of days ago, I am still excited and really looking forward to it. Looks like my two release date purchases this year will be Borderlands 2 and Halo 4. Nothing else has struck my interest. And I am even skeptical of Borderlands 2, since I don't have any Xbox Live buddies to play it with anymore, and it isn't the kind of game you play alone.

Hope this friend ^ isn't the type to purchase a new call of duty every year [with a comment like that]..

It's been 5 years since Halo 3 and it looks like both a return to form as well as something fresh. and more importantly it looks FUN.

Borderlands was also a lot of fun so it'll be interesting to see how that goes.

Also looking forward to Farcry 3 and that's about it, not much else on my radar.

Maybe we can hook up with some Halo 4 - but at least one of us will probably need to be up at 3am. - I'm in GMT +10, you can do the math.

If I do manage to get it at midnight I probably will be up at 3 am..

xhonzi is probably getting really excited or Halo 2 right about now...

Actually I just finished Halo 2 for the first time yesterday. =P It was definitely bigger in every way than the first and my friend was right about that ending. Luckily, I don't have to wait years before I play the next one. Just a week for it to arrive in the mail. =P

It does look fun, and that is all that matters.

Funny you ask if this friend is a Call of Duty every year kind of guy. He's not, but when Modern Warfare 2 came out he was obsessed with it and always telling me how great it was, while I held the position that it looked stupid and had no interest in it. A few months later I met some girl and she got me into it, and after a month of trying to figure the game out and repeatedly getting my ass handed to me all so I could spend time with this gorgeous girl, I kind of got into it. I bought Black Ops on release, really enjoyed it, and burnt many a hour on it. Also got Modern Warfare 3 on release, which this same friend of mine who tried to get me into Modern Warfare 2 refused to play because it is now sold out and lame, apparently.

Farcry 3 does look cool, but I think it is the type of came I wouldn't mind pulling a Xhonzi on.

As for hooking up for Halo 4 after it comes out, absolutely. Time difference shouldn't be a problem for us, I usually work a 7p to 7a shift, so I tend to be up all night on my days off (which are random).

Haha! That Halo 2 Xhonzi joke was great! But I've already played some Reach with him, I think Halo games have traditionally been above his waiting to get dirt cheap rule.

We still have all of the Halos. Before Halo 3 came out we played 1 & 2 again. So before 4 comes out we're going to play the others again. We just beat ODST & Anniversary, & I'm not sure we need to play Reach again, but we'll see!

You're going to burn yourself out of Halo before you even get a chance to enjoy 4. ;)

Final total for yesterday was around $60k. And the remaing $20k was picked up over night.

Tex Murphy is GO for launch!

Thanks anyone (not 005) who supported!

Actual LOL (but not really, I just put the actual part in there for Frink)

I do tend to make exceptions for the Halo series. But all of that other money I've been tightfisting went to Tex Murphy, so it's all been worth it.

Speaking of Halo, has everyone seen the Bungie Destiny news?

Gold for $35 from Amazon. Voucher must be deemed before 22 June, but I think the card can be used anytime. Don't be an idiot like me and follow the directions to get the $15 off voucher before you look at the price on Amazon and say "that's not $35!"

RE: Bungie's Destiny-
I'm not sure where to find the news I heard. And I can't probably regurgitate it and do it justice. It was somewhere in the (pre)E3 news.

The Two Guys From Andromeda kickstarter is almost over and they're still not there. This could be a close one.

Yeah, it will be down to the wire.  I've got my fingers crossed!

Did you see the Warbird announcement that they're rolling the Indiegogo money into kickstarter and doubling everyone's Indiegogo pledges/rewards?  Might be a good time to jump on Warbird if that's your thing.

Yep, I remember.  I guess the first part of that post was directed to you (did you see?) and the second part was directed to anyone else reading our private conversation (maybe a good time).

Still loving Beyond Good And Evil (the HD version is available for you youngsters in the second decade of the 21st Century).

The concept footage for the sequel is a bit of disappointment though.

The original has this lovely neon Disney look to it, while the footage looks obviously more graphically complex it lacks an individual style.

It has the same sun-bleached look that has dominated almost every major game since Resident Evil 5.

Two Guys is definitely making it. No doubt. The stream of backers and $1000+ per hour has been amazing this past week. I don't know what did it. A couple of weeks ago the chance of success was very slim.

Between Two Guys Spaceventure, Tex Murphy - Project Fedora, Jane Jensen's Moebius, and Double Fine Adventure, I'm so happy as an adventure gamer. This is the resurgence I think many of us were waiting for. Adventure games never went away, and there have been some amazing titles in the last 10-15 years, but seeing all these older developers take back the genre from publishers is very exciting.
