I have this tape and it still has not gone to tape rot.

The laserdisc's of the 1982, 1983 or 1985 pan and scan however all have different levels of laserot.

Interesting enough my 1982 LD is almost unaffected only minor rot with an X-0 player you would probably get a pristine transfer out of it.

The 1983 though is so badly gone i won't run it in my laserdisc player for fear of breaking it.

The 1982 print looks almost new and sharp in comparison to the 1985 version which by that time was badly color shifted. By the time they looked at existing masters or the negatives in 1993-1994 the amount of color loss must have been considerable.

The CRE stock used in the optical effects is completely gone as far as i know that is why the effects had to be recomped or recreated in 1997.
