Imgur gives you direct image link options on the right when you upload an image. Example pic direct linked from imgur:compyislife said:

If you don't see it click "Get embed codes" in the lower right hand corner of the border surrounding your image. The direct link option is second.
In short direct linking from imgur works on this board.
