Water for Elephants (2011)
Just finished the film. It was one I really wanted to catch in theater but never got the chance. I wish I had, I enjoyed it. They did an excellent job recreating the time period. There was also something I realized for the first time while watching the film. I probably never have before because I rarely watch romantic films but thinking back to the ones I have a lot of them do this. And that is having the story conveyed by one of the main characters long after they've grown old. Just off the top of my head: Big Fish, Titanic, The Notebook, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Phantom of the Opera. Now that I've realized this it kind of bugs me.
