It was there before I activated the browser to type this and it will be there when I switch it off to do something else.
I've never been a fan of real-world explanations to justify choices that go against filmic conventions. I've always seen that as the weapon of the prequel fanboy ;-)
In this case. the HUD could be seen to undermine the framing, point of focus and the mise en scene. In my opinion, it's what makes it work as a film for the audience that matters, not making it a realistic world. Otherwise you may as well have a cup of coffee next to Vader as well as a scene where two Stormtroopers discuss the loss of the Falcon at the urinal. :-)
