Aalenfae's PREQUEL TRILOGY (Heavily delayed - computer exploded) — Page 17

Yeah, true. I loved his cloak with the collar in the Clone Wars cartoon. But... can't change the visuals.
Hopefully a new voice and more menacing sound effects in general coming from him will give him some more dignity.

well, maybe he should have LESS dignity. he was supposed to be this big-bad in ROTS, a jedi-killer who would be a real threat to obi-wan later on. yet all that is said of him by the jedi is that he is a coward, and they just send ONE guy to fight him.

giving him a higher raspy voice, and really playing on how greasy he is could strengthen his character alot more. when he suddenly reveals that he can fight later on, it could be a bit of a 'bummer we underestimated him' moment. certain elements would need changing to achieve this, but its worth a thought.

i tried this voice change AGES ago - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znm5AllHbG0

That's where the Cobra Commander voice could work out really well. It's raspy and menacing, but not in the way Vader's is. And it works with the whole "Griveous is a coward." angle.

Yeah, I'm really liking this "raspy and menacing" voice.
I'll see if I can pull something like that off, and I'll have a demo clip up in a bit.

ha well good! the dialogue itself is from a film right? it fits brilliantly.

Yes. I posted a link on the last page of the movie where the dialogue came from....a G.I. Joe movie. The voice is Cobra Commander XD

I remain a fan of your impressive work!  Nicely done!  I imagine a job like this edit will take some time, but I still look forward to it.

I kind of prefer bobs idea of Duke Dooku coming out of a door at the floor level (thus avoiding the silly gymnastics).

That way you can keep the droids upstairs which is a typical Sith move of backing themselves up with disposable technology.

But it you have found another way of avoiding the 'back flip into the swan' being up above has visual impact.

I hadn't actually considered that - Dooku coming in floor-level.

Though I've actually always been a fan of Dooku flipping down onto the floor and epically drawing his saber. The sound design is so cool in that shot.

However, I HAVE cut the fight in such a way that they never go upstairs, which makes it much less silly.

Amazing! How did you manage to get the background behind the droids?

Check out my Episode I edit.

Sorry for Bad English.

Ahhhh....

Excellent work Aalenfae!

Removing the droids looks good.

I wish you would remove the flip though. Other edits have done it quite well. It's not a good example of CGI.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Author

Besides he is older than old Ben.

He'll do his hip no end of damage trying a stunt like that.

How about just keeping the walk on the balcony BEFORE the flip, cut to OBi-Wan And Anakin's dialogue, and then cut to Dooku coming in at ground level. It implies he walked down the stairs without showing it.

That's how it happens in Kerr's Dark Force Rising, which I think is the gold standard of visual and sound editing for episode 3.

Remember the first time we see Vader in ANH? The menacing music? I think it'd be cool if you try something like that when Dooku shows up in ROTS, cause otherwise it's like a bad guy appears but everything is under control and his presence means no danger at all.

Greetings!

I will take all of these suggestions into consideration!

I like it!  Some of the words were a bit hard to understand to me at first hearing - but maybe it's because I'm listening to it on small external laptop speakers  ;)

Not a huge fan of the cough or wheezing, but it's better than the original.

Thanks for the peeks!

I liked it, but I also had trouble understanding a few of Grievous's words.

Author
Time

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting people to have a hard time understanding the words. But that's maybe because I'm the one who recorded them, haha. Perhaps once I have some better recording equipment, the higher quality will make it easier to hear.

As far as coughing goes, I've been having trouble thinking of a good replacement. His movements make it hard to be anything else. I was thinking he could be shouting something, but that might be cheesy.

On an entirely different note, here's another video. The first 3:40 of my edit. Sounds still very temporary, and some visuals are incomplete.

Your keeping the “this is going to be easy” bit in then?

Bingowings said: Do you want to see the project finished as a playable film or a flick book?

I think so. It might be a little cheesy, but Star Wars has always had cheesy lines. Also, it helps the scene flow a bit, because he actually acknowledges Anakin. Other edits that take the line out make it look like Obi-Wan is ignoring Anakin during the whole opening because they never actually talk to one another.
