Tron Legacy (2010).

Jeff Bridges is certainly a man of seasons.

I kind of fancied chubby Kong Jeff, I had a thing for Starman Jeff, dug Daddy Bear Ironman Jeff and now I see he's God.

Other than Jeff and blink and miss him Bruce "get the hell out of our galaxy" Boxleitner (why the film is called Tron Legacy at all is a bit confusing) it's practically a remake with a bit of The Matrix thrown in, in a way that makes surprising sense.

In some ways it's a better film than the first one (the story is the same but it has more momentum and the villain is a bit more nuanced) but it lacks that shock of the new and it hasn't got as much an art sensibility to it.

You could frame many stills from the first film and hang them in a gallery, if you did the same with this film you would have a film still on your wall and not a lovely bit of graphic fine art.

Writing out Cindy Morgan like that just seems sexist.

The old boys can come back but old girls it seems are a no, no.

So what actually happened to the earlier grid?

I thought at the end of the first film it was reinvigorated now that it was free from the MCP.

In this film Flynn has starts out wanting to build a whole new system so does it exist along side the old restored one or did he just apocalypsize it?

Flynn is a really tough deity to love especially by the end of this one.

Sure the grid denizens get to view his only begotten son but it looks like he doesn't turn out to be much of a saviour.

At least one guy gets to explode in big Jeff's loving embrace... but it should have been me.
