Totally agree with you there Sean.

I'm currently reading a book called 'The Link' by Matthew Manning. It's a true account of a teenage medium in the 1970s. I highly recommend it.

A quick intro to Matthew’s story

I have nearly finished reading 'The Ghost of Flight 401' by John G. Fuller. I highly recommend it.

Here's a brief summary of the book:

In 1972 Eastern Airlines Flight 401 was carrying 176 people as it neared it's destination of the Miami Airport. Flying the L - 1011 jumbo jet were Captain Bob Loft and Second Officer Don Repo, who were engaged in routine landing procedures when a warning light flashed on the control panel indicating a problem with the landing gear. It is possible that this is the reason neither of them noticed that the plane was actually descending around 200 feet per minute faster than what they thought. Seconds later the airliner slammed into the Florida Everglades, killing 101 people immedietly. Both Captain Loft and Officer Repo survived the initial impact, but both were mortally wounded. Captain Loft died before he could be pulled from the burning, twisted wreck and Officer Repo died a day later. The story of these men should have ended right there, but this was not to be the case. Eastern Airlines salvaged much of the stricken airplane and redistributed them among similar aircraft in their fleet.

Soon, reports of ghostly hauntings began to come in from the planes who had received spare parts from Flight 401. Most of the apparitions were reported by Eastern's crew members, especially those on one particular plane of the airline's fleet. Repo's ghost appeared frequently, both in the cockpit as well as in the galley, the area where flight attendents prepared passengers meals. He seemed to be especially concerned with flight safety, and reportedly fixed a faulty oven circuit on one occasion. In other instances, he pointed out a potential fire hazzard and a hydraulic leak.

Loft's ghost was also seen on various flights, usually sitting in first class or in the crews cabin. A stewardess once confronted Loft, asking what he was doing on the plane as she had not seen him board and could not identify him on the passenger manifest. Receiving no reply, she reported it to her flight captain. He walked back with her and recognized Loft, who disappeared immedietely in front of a dozen people!!! The airline was (at least outwardly) a bit skeptical of people who reported the sightings, and suggested that they seek psychiatric counceling at the company's expense. Nevertheless, skeptical or not, the airline removed all of the salvaged parts of the ill - fated Flight 401 from the aircraft they had been put into. The paranormal sightings ended with that.

So far, I have found this book thought provoking. The descriptions of the crash and recovery was truly fascinating. Whilst of course being disturbing it gives you a tremendous respect for airline staff and those invloved in recoveries of this kind. What I also found interesting was the fact that most of the ghostly sightings were solid and seemed tangible (in some cases touch actually occurred, as did vocal communication) rather than the traditional transparent, misty image of a ghost we would expect.

War does not make one great.

Wow talk about thread ressurection, eh...

Being obsessive and neurotic about plane crashes and reading all about them, I have read about this flight and the supposed hauting by the people who died on it.

But I am extremely skeptic about these incidents. The witness are often vague and contradicting, and delirium can often happen on airplanes. I've known someone who has worked for a major airline, and that person told me how pilots would often get literally insane for flying so much time, and being under a low-air-preassure environment all this time. This is something airliners don't usually say, but nervous breakdowns, delirium and insanity often happens to those professionals. On the airliner this person used to work, one day the pilot decided to take all his clothes off and walk around the airport...

So, although I belive on some anomalous phenomenons, I tend to discard this one.

All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. There are too many things we can't explain in this world to discount supernatural causes, IMO. Yes, we should maintain healthy skepticism (ie: Is the door banging open and closed on a windy day REALLY because of a ghost? Or is it the wind?), but members of my family whom I respect and know are not insane have had contact with......things that defy explanation. See my previous posts about my father's upbringing. I also know someone personally (not in my fam) who is experiencing disturbances now. They're frightening to say the least. Cupboards opening and closing on their own, footsteps in the night, their kids being taunted by a mysterious "child" who yells at them and stands next to them looking angry. Very, very curious.

As for YIYF's post(s), nothing would surprise me.

I am not saying all of those things have a "normal", skeptic explanation, I'm just saying that particular case YIYF mentioned is something I tend not to belive into.

I just meant skepticism in a broad, general sense. That part of my post wasn't really directed at your take on YIYF's post. Just my own two cents in general.

If anything, his post creeped me out!!

I used to pick up taxi cab radio signals on the fillings in my teeth.

My mouth would act like a loud speaker and amplify them if open.

This was particularly embarrassing during sexual encounters.

Once, when I was a kid, back in '96 or so, I was lying in bed, waiting to fall asleep, when I thought I heard a voice address me. When I turned over, though, there was no one near me or even in the room. I doubt it was someone calling me from another room, because it sounded pretty close.

This is the closest thing to a paranormal experience I've ever been through. Since nothing like that ever happened before or since while living in that house, I tend to write it off as a brain fart or some sort or misattributation.

The one bad thing about my edition of Stargate - that there's an interview with that guy in it.

Well, there's also the lack of other features, like making-of documentaries, behind-the-scenes stills, stuff like other that. But anyway ...

There is a lot to be said for becoming a Centauri human hybrid.

Centauri men have six penises so has a hybrid I guess you might get lucky and have seven.

So considering this is the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, I have to let everyone in on some bad news....

....It was an inside job!
