things weren't any better in the 70's..
there were ads for star wars months before it came out,
novelizations prepared on release, comic books, action figures ready to go..
articles in magazines, appearances at conferences promoting it. multiple
posters, interviews, etc, etc, etc..
it was anything but simple..
