I saw The Village this weekend and it truly begs for a re-edit. While I, Robot, could have just used more depth and intelligence, essentially scenes that weren't filmed...the Village could've been much better if many of the explanatory scenes were held to the very end. You are spoon fed the "twist" from about 15 minutes into the movie and given the full deal 30 minutes before the end. I won't get into details b/c some may want to see it, but trust me if it was re-edited it would've been far more creepy.
As for movies that don't need editing and were flat out awesome...Manchurian Candidate and Bourne Supremacy. Two of the best, not only of the summer...ever. Both classic. And, yes, I see a lot of movies.
