Would there ever be the possibility of seeing a tutorial (or at least a link or two to a good tutorial on cleaning and/or color correcting)? I would love to take a shot at the new SUSPIRIA blu-ray, among a few other titles.
Such as this scene right here:
i can't see this image.. i went to the site,
all the images looked good to me.
if you need to ask for coloring advice, the
technical forum would be better for that.
it's a whole art into itself. i don't know
much about it.
there are filters for freeware avisynth/virtualdub,
for fixing scratches, cleaning up dirt, and dust.
however professional software uses a lot more sophisticated
algorithms, including blending, color look ahead, temporal fixing
and others..
basically, it's a lot of looking back/forward at previous frames.
taking the pixels you want replaced.. averaging them over
time.. and pasting them over the original..
you have to look for non-damaged frames if the error is one
spot (lines/scratches).. in that case, you have to make an
educated guess at what the pixel color will be based on
the surrounding pixels and what there color is..
in still pictures with little movement like this, it works
great, because you have a lot more frames to get
pixel replacements from..
when you have short scenes, or a lot of movement.
then you have to go in by hand, and figure it out
by yourself.. otherwise most of its automated.
