Question regarding PT filming in Tunisia

Author
Time

I’m trying to recall a behind-the-scenes featurette, which showed Lucas on location in Tunisia during the filming of Ep2.  I seem to remember him saying that, instead of coming back to the same location 2-3 years later, he would shoot the final scene of Ep3 there and then.

So, does anyone know if the baby Luke hand-over scene in Ep3 was actually filmed during Ep2’s production?

I recall that being claimed as well, definitely. Not sure where it was. Or if it was true at all.

I'm fairly certain it happened.  But I'm unsure of whether what was filmed was actually used for Ep3.  I'm guessing it wasn't, judging the final product (which looks very green-screeny to me!).  In which case, it would be interesting to see what was filmed.

Thanks, SilverWook.

That photo of Fett and Lucas looks Photoshopped to me.  I could be wrong.

It's on those web featurettes. I think it might have been called We Didn't Go to the Desert for a Suntan, or something like that.

I think that was on the beginning of the last VHS letterbox copy on the 1997 SE ANH

It's an "official" photo apparently, like all the others fans often buy to have to the actors sign at conventions these days.

Would Lucasfilm fake a photo to confuse fans during production? Otherwise they dragged Temura Morrison, (or whomever else fit the costume) all the way out to Tunisia.

And made him 10% bigger than he should be, not at the right angle, and had him stand under studio lights that somehow didn't shine on ol' George.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Just because it's official doesn't mean it's not photoshopped.

I believe that is a photoshop job. I'm pretty sure I've seen that picture of George in Tunisia before and I don't remember Jango Fett being there. Why would they bring the Fett costume to the desert anyway?

It would serve the same purpose as fake script pages. To confound and confuse as to the real plot line. ;)

Bad form if it's really a doctored photo though.

This looks shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels, and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.

Maybe part of a group of publicity shots.  George's clothes look the same here and generally the same age and background.  (on second thought, none of that.  maybe same original shoot and they pasted gl and jf together...)

Yeah, he's always had a hard time pronouncing his own fictitious proper nouns. Other examples of this are Naboo ("Nay-boo"), Gungans ("Goongas"), and Dooku ("Doe-koo").

And everyone thinks the official pronunciation is bad ...

and Dooku ("Doe-koo").

Now this is actually better than the official pronunciation.

Don't forget- Leia ("Lee-ah").

True, but that one's a bit unique in that pronunciation vacillates in the actual movie.

If I were a betting man, I'd say that was Photoshoped.  They're casting some awfully big shadows for being out in the desert sun.  Plus, that picture of Lucas seems very familiar, but not with that character in it.
