Definitely agreed there! ha That's something I love about the Lord of the Rings trilogy was Jackson's extensive use of miniatures.

I wonder if roto'ing any of the A New Hope footage would be a good replacement for that shot? Just an idea if you wanted to tackle the extra work for such a small payoff... In my opinion, what you have already done is good enough for that small, not-super-important shot.
