...considering it is being made by volunteers, their everyday lives are a consideration too.

and we really appreciate that you remember that. Thanks!

Trust me, I had a small community access show with my friends and that was only around 30 minutes per episode.  It took me getting to the studio 30 minutes to an hour early for setup, then the taping/production ran anywhere from 20-40 minutes at the studio, there were also pre-production meetings, production/taping of the fake commercials we made and then there was the editing.

I've also done Star Wars lightsaber rotoscoping and let me tell you, it is an evil and painfully slow process.  If you are dealing in NTSC at 29.97 frames per second, that means you manually have to move/tween/tweak a lightsaber blade 30 times for every one second of video.  That isn't even mentioning when the lines of the prop aren't clearly defined when in motion so it is harder to determine where the blade starts/stops.  Then you also have masking for elements in front of the blade itself, which, if it is a person's hand or something small and moving, is also done frame by frame.

Now imagine you are tweaking a Star Wars movie, doing all of the above PLUS new models, CG mattes, working with imperfect source materials to which you don't have the original plates, etc.  Yeah, that takes a BUTT LOAD of time.

So yeah, I know the work behind it and understand that real life might just get in the way of, or be more important than the slamming your brain against the wall that the project can be sometimes.  Sometimes, you just need a break from the work.
