You guys besides me can think of/list/name any epic heroic myth from the past and/or the present.

Throughout history, we tell each other stories of all kinds and types, especially those in any form, medium, etc., and some of the earliest forms of storytelling are epic heroic myths.

Despite living in an ever-changing world, in keeping in the tradition of storytelling past and present, can you guys list/name/think of the greatest examples in the world of epic heroic myths from all around the world, and especially those in any form, medium, etc., past and present?

Or some of them, if nesscessary?

I would appreciate it.

timbox2.0, I'm afraid you won't have serious replies from this forum.

One man's myth is another man's religious truth.

There are the animist stories of Africa, the Celts, the indigenous peoples of Australia and the American plains.

Then there are the celestial soap operas of the Greek, Roman, Norse, Hindu, Canaanite, Sumerian, Shenist, Aztec, Mayan etc pantheons which have a degree of interchange.

Then you have the heroes, Cu Chulainn, Mithras, Arthur, Theseus, Perseus, Romulus, Odysseus, Bhimsen, Sun Wukong, Gilgamesh.

The Epic Of Gilgamesh is very important as many aspects of it are integrated into the holy books of current religions.

You get a version of the Eden story in there, you get the deluge and an ark.

The Bible is full of great, weird and wacky tales.

You then get spin off tales like the myths relating to Simon Magus and Simon Peter.

Mahabharata and the Ramayana aren't just great sagas but are holy texts to current Hindus as well.

Then you get the folk tales which tend to deal with women and children more than epic sagas do.

It all depends on what kind of tale you are looking for.

If you ask for themes perhaps people could give more specific help.
