Help: looking for... JC's Prince of Darkness? and possible ideas for other projects.

Hi Everyone,
I was just curious if anyone knows if there is a 1080 version of this anywhere, or does anyone have it? I would love to get it, this is one of my favorite JC movies and I love the score, and If I could find a good quality version of it I would like to make a BD25 out of it and make a custom Iso Score for it from my 2 CD set.

Actually now that we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for the SW BLU V2 project I have a few ideas brewing in my head lol, 1 I would like to do the above mentioned, 2 I would like to add in the Day of The Dead Uncensored audio to the superior US BD video, 3 someone commented on a possible Dawn of The Dead BD project, but I need to see what is better and what is missing, not sure about this yet, 4 I am tossing around doing a Scream Uncut Reconstruction if it can be done, thanks to Mr Brown I have the uncut Scream on DVD and it is anamorphic and looks very, very good, I am wondering if I can upscale these missing seconds and color them to match the Blu-ray good enough to pull this off, then edit in the missing seconds into the HD audio and wallah, another reconstruction, but this is all ideas at the moment. nothing is set in stone, first I have to see if it is even possible.

If idea number 4 is possible, maybe a similar reconstruction can be done for the unrated version of Live Free or Die Hard. I have the Blu-ray (theatrical cut) and the Unrated DVD (I don't even think there's an HD version available for the unrated cut).

Sadly, I only have the DVD for Prince of Darkness. I only know of 720p versions floating around...haven't seen any 1080i or 1080p versions. Considering it's a Universal property, I could see Universal botching it like they usually do with their catalog Blu-ray releases (there are some exceptions, though).

I'd be all for the uncut version of Scream if it's possible, along with the uncensored audio for Day of the Dead. I have this on Blu-ray as well, and it is definitely the best available version, but it still has its faults (a heavy case of DNR for starters). It's a shame that Germany didn't get a truly uncut version on Blu-ray (instead labeling the R-rated cut as "uncut").

There's some potential in these ideas, that's for sure...

What is the size of the 720p file of Prince of Darkness floating around?

and I am really not even sure if the whole Scream idea will even work, I will not even start testing until the Star Wars BD Set is done, but maybe it will be good enough for me to use it and have in the BD case along with the cut version, we will see.

4.37 GB...seems to be the standard for most 720p files that are posted online. One thing that's interesting is that it's 1.78:1 instead of the original 2.35:1, so I wonder if it's cropped or open-matte.

Pretty sure that HDTV version of PoD is cropped as it was shot with a spherical lense.

What was the suggested possible DAWN OF THE DEAD project? Consider my curiosity piqued...

A complete Dawn of the Dead would be a real beast to put together. I think the music is drastically different between the various cuts. I know the Zombi version has all that Goblin music at the end, which is radically different than what Romero went with.

An uncut Scream approaching HD quality would be great! That, and Hellraiser III (Guilty pleasure) are on my uncut "want list."

Anyone interested, I have the Trainspotting Japanese release with the extra few snippets of.... y'know. Ha...

I'd like to recommend a Family Guy Volume 9: CENSORED preservation. Basically, it's the episodes from the Volum 9 DVD except they're the censored TV Versions. Being a fan, I prefer to watch Family Guy censored.

Oh yeah. The 'Extended Mall Hours' composite illustrates just how varied the audio was between sources and there's sadly not much that can be done about it. The end result will always be a bastard offspring.

Here's an easy project: WILD AT HEART. Just need somebody with some skills to upscale (and fps adjust) two shots so they can replace the censored versions on the BD releases. Osbserve:

I have the uncut Australian 'Magna Pacific' 16x9 PAL DVD and would be happy to supply the necessary shots.

Another one: THEY LIVE. Sync up the lossless audio from the (upscaled) UK BD to the (high def) picture from the Italian (?) BD.

Regarding a "Dawn of the Dead" extreme extended Cut:

there is a german languaged DVD containing a PAL 155 minute cut. This is, afaik a "we put every piece of the Romero and the Argento Cuts togerther in one cut" released on DVD. There are differences in PQ, AQ and Score while the movie. I remember that there also "score jumps" in some scenes. It is called "Ultimate Final Cut"...

Some guy did the same thing using the Ultimate Edition DVDs.

Yeah, nice, but the German languages Ultimate Final Cut is for sale officially in Austria.

As for Prince of Darkness, I saw a broadcast version 5-6 years ago where there are additional footage of the book of sleep.  I believe I started a thread regarding it, but was unable to find it.  I think that version would be worth preserving even if it's not full HD.

I'm sure there's lots of things that are for sale 'officially' in Austria. I fail to see the significance.

So is there an HD version of this to be had anywhere at all?

Damn I really would like to do something with this and my 2 CD OST Set lol.
